National Girls Performer Of The Week (5/17-5/23)
Jasmine Montgomery, San Antonio Reagan (TX): At the adidas Boost Boston Games, Montgomery went head to head against four the the nation's top sprinters. She won the 100m in 11.27 (-0.7) to edge out Shawnti Jackson by three hundredths of a second. Montgomery has not lost one race this outdoor season.
Roisin Willis, Stevens Point (WI): Willis had the breakout moment she's been working towards all year. At the Trials of Miles NYC Qualifier, she competed against two of the nation's best in the 800m, Juliette Whittaker and Sophia Gorriaran. Willis not only came away with the win and a new personal best, she also hit the US Olympic trials qualifier of 2:02.50. Willis crossed the finish line in 2:00.78, which is the fastest time in the country. Willis re-wrote the record books as she became the fifth-fastest junior in history in this event.
Kaniya Johnson, White Knoll (SC): Johnson posted one of the fastest wind-legal times of the weekend at the SCHSL State Championships in both the 100m and 200m. It took two personal bests to earn the state titles as she clocked a 11.53 (+1.5) in the 100m and 23.58 (-0.5) 200m. Her performances moved her up to US No. 4 in the 100m and US No. 7 in the 200m on the leaderboards.
Paige Floriea, Mentor (OH): Floriea dropped a huge lifetime best of 53.70 to win the OHSAA Division 1 District meet in the 400m. The senior also won the 200m in 24.14 and the 100m in 11.88.
Lily Shapiro, Colts Neck (NJ): The junior just set a new US No. 1 in the 1600m at the Holmdel Twilight Series - Royal Rumble. She crossed the finish line in 4:40.15.
Carmen Alder, Pinecrest (NC): Alder won the Tachyon Track and Field Games in the 3K, as she set a new personal best of 9:31.81. In doing so, she edged out Tully's Brooke Rauber and Moon Area's Mia Cochran.
Adelaide Asante, North Brusnwick (NJ): At the East Coast Relays & Last Chance Invite, Asante sprinted to a 1:01.13 in the 400mH to be the fourth-fastest athlete in the country.
Sarah Marvin, Byron (MI): Marvin threw a season's best in the shot put of 49-10.75 to be US No. 7 at the MHSAA Region 29-3 meet. She also won the discus in a personal best of 151-0.
Victoria Lanese, Mentor (OH): Lanese cleared over 5-8 in the high jump for five times this season. This weekend, she went to new heights at the OHSAA Divison 1 District - Riverside meet. She cleared 5-10.5 to win the title and is now ranked US No. 3.
Sophie Atkinson, Katy Cinco ranch (TX): At the adidas Boost Boston Games, Atkinson won the Dream Mile in 4:41.
