Intelligencer/Courier Times Athlete of the Week: May 24-30
Ryan Benscoter, Pennridge, senior: The outside hitter had 25 kills and two aces to help the Rams defeat Upper Dublin 3-0 in the PIAA District One Class 3A boys' volleyball championship match.
Kieran Edwards, Neshaminy, junior: The outside hitter had 10 kills and four blocks to help Neshaminy defeat Council Rock North 3-0 in the PIAA District One Class 3A boys' volleyball third-place match. The win earned Neshaminy the third and final PIAA tournament berth.
Kylee Jones, Neshaminy, senior: The shortstop went 2-for-3 with a home run to help 11th-seeded Neshaminy top No. 3 Hatboro-Horsham in the PIAA District One Class 6A quarterfinals. The win clinched a PIAA tournament berth for Neshaminy.
Siniru Iheoma, sr., Council Rock South: The senior won gold medals at the PIAA track meet in the Class 3A discus (164 feet, 0 inches) and shot put (48-0.75).
Gary Martin, jr., Archbishop Wood: The junior raced to gold in two events at the PIAA track meet and set a state record in one: the 3,200 (8:54.87). He also won the 1,600 and placed fifth in the 800.
CB West girls' relays: The quartet of Claire Dalsass, Julia Flood, Emmi Simon and Carlin McFadden earned gold medals in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays at the 3A state track meet, helping West to the 3A girls team title.
