4.3 million people quit their jobs last August, mostly from restaurants, bars, hotels, and retail establishments. Thoughts?
Well, of course - back then, we were still offering people money to stay home, right? They'll get back to work soon enough.
These workers don't want to deal with low wages and the abuse they receive from their employers anymore. It's about time they were valued more by society.
I would be one of those workers, but I literally can't afford to quit my job - too much depends on where my next paycheck comes from.
I am sympathetic to these workers' positions, but I am also worried how raising the minimum wage would affect the economy.
I wonder if it's just because of the pandemic - once it's over, will people return to these jobs?
I think it's mostly the larger businesses that need to offer more to their employees - small businesses need a leg up in this matter.
This is not an issue I care about.
