I miss Casey so much. It really changes the dynamics of the show. Rumor has it that he is a stay at home dad. I can imagine that he'd do a great job at that! Perhaps he'll agree to return to the show in cameos. Perhaps returning to Chicago and being assigned to a different Firehouse (of course). He can come to 51 to bring lunch for Sylvie, meet with Boden, visit with his brothers.

I was so shocked & disappointed but after hearing Jesse is taking a break I am hopeful he will return to Chicago Fire
I loved him on House & I loved him on Chicago Fire- which is my favorite series
Please don't EVER end it !!!!!

My heart is breaking :~( Jesse is one of my two favorite characters on Fire. But I understand that family comes first and I’m sure his wife hasn’t always come first. So Jesse, enjoy your family and whatever you choose to do but remember to at least pop into the firehouse occasionally so we can see your smiling face.

I was so shocked and sad to hear that Casey was leaving. While I understand his reasons, the show will not be the same! If Sevride and Boden leave that will be a deal breaker for me!

I have watched Chicago Fire from the very beginning and will miss Jesse Spencer he has always been one of my favorites. I understand his reasons and wish him well, but really hope he will also return.

Going to miss you Matt. Good luck hope we see you back some day.

I don't like it all - his leaving. His girlfriend in the show will not be the same without him and no amount of "telephone calls" from him will be the same. He was good and he made her look good. It's understandable that these actors can't stay forever but maybe if he would have slowly been taken away it would have been better. As it is - will he be back - no. Will they be able to help her on the show - no. If really finishes her as well.

So many sound like the show or network got rid of him. He decided to leave which he's allowed to do.

I was shocked by Casey’s exit. I’m not happy. I still miss
Otis. If Severide leaves I’ll be crazed. Jesse come back!

  • Angelia Bunch - 2 years ago

It will be different without Casey-but we got accustomed to Otis being gone...and Shea. So long as Severide and Boden don't leave-I will continue to watch.

I'm really sad that Spencer is leaving. I don't like change. Having Severide and Casey at the helm is what I am used to. You can't lose a major player like Casey and think that you won't lose viewers. When Criminal Minds lost Erin Hotchner, the show was not the same. I lost interest in it. The same happened when Al died in Chicago PD. Losing Casey is a show stopper for me. I wish him well in his new ventures but hope we will see him again in Chicago someday.

Aww...love that guy. Shocked and Sad at the same time to see that he's leaving...I hope he decides to come back in the future. In the meantime...
Good Luck with whatever you do and thank you for being a part of our lives...you will truly truly be missed...

I have watched “Fire” since the beginning. The thought of losing Casey is devastating, as he is such an integral character. The show won’t be the same without him! Though Jesse deserves a long overdue pause and break, I am hoping that he will return soon to “51!” He will be sorely missed!! Show won’t be the same without him. So hurry back…

Absolutely love Chicago Fire and I was disappointed to see Casey leave, since he and Brett just began their relationship. Can't wait to see what's in store for 51 now that chief Boden has returned too and who will take Casey's place.

  • Julie Turney - 2 years ago

We are big fans of Chicago Fire and watched from the beginning. Matt Casey is a favorite. We will miss Jesse.
We wish him the very best but hope he will stay connected to Chicago Fire. Loved the Bret/Casey union storyline.
    Happy trails.

It’s ok for Casey to leave (take a break) but he is an important part of the show so l would like to see him return. The story line could be the boys agree to move to Chicago with him and attend college there. Let them visit Brett for Christmas and fall in love with her and Chicago.

I understand why Jesse Spencer left. I feel bad for the character leaving, but the writers are excellent and will continue to keep the other main characters involved and active. Sometimes actors need to experience other things and roles to see if that is what they want. Remember he has the option to return, So do not give up. If Everyone knows everything, it makes the series boring and uninvolved. Dawson came back now and then, so why not Casey at some point? True followers of the show are like sports fans, they never give up on their team.

I hate the idea the Jesse will not be there with fire house 51. He will be sorely missed. THUMBS DOWN ON HIS DEPARTURE...

Casey should have stayed on the show. Bad move. Didn't have to be on every episode but should have stayed.

  • Vicky Pfennig - 2 years ago

I like Casey when he played on House, I have watched Chicago fire since the begining and it will seem strange without Casey but it was the same when the other cast members left. I hope all of the original cast dont leave cuz I would probably stop watching the show.

  • Joyce Mendoza - 2 years ago

I've watched this show from the beginning, I do not like the fact that Casey is leaving.....I'll continue to watch as long as Kelly severide stays.

  • Craig S - 2 years ago

I need to add one last comment, Casey is the beating heart of 51 and this could be dangerous for the show. Replacing Matt Casey will not be easy.

  • Craig S - 2 years ago

I am emotionally invested in the Matt Casey character and seeing him leave is extremely difficult. I find hope in the fact they did not kill him in a fire as they did with "Otis" Brian. With Sylvie still at 51 there is an anchor that could draw his character back. For the time being I hope they bring him back in cameo appearances when he comes to see Sylvie or she goes to see him in Oregon to see how he is getting along as he cares for the Darden boys. I strongly believe had his exit been permanent I would have to break my ties with the show.

My wife and I don’t like at all that Jesse Spencer has left the show. Bring him back.
