Should the Broncos fire Vic Fangio?

Been a Bronco season ticket holder since the early ‘80’s. The Broncos have been awful since Manning left. The ownership turmoil left Elway unchecked to continuously make bad decisions - especially at quarterback. We don’t have the right wuarterback on the team yet. Fangio has done nothing since he has been here. This team has no identity on offense or defense.

I said it before the season started that the Denver Broncos elevating Teddy Bridgewater to starting quarterback was a political move to hopefully save the coaching staffs butt. Teddy did not beat Drew Lock out for the starting quarterbacks job. Lets be honest that the Denver Broncos are a product of the Minnesota Vikings organization. Shurmer coached there, Patton the GM was a part of the Minnesota front office. A number of players have been signed from both Chicago and Minnesota. Its the "Good Ole Boys Club". Drew Lock is not a bad quarterback! He is a victim of poor offensive schemes and coaching. His first year in Denver he was playing well at the end of the season. So what do the Denver Broncos do but fire the offensive coordinator. Then this past off season they lead us to believe that Drew Lock will be the starter and then bring in Retread Teddy and suddenly Drew is no longer the starter. Of course, as it turns out, Teddy is a Minnesota 1st round pick. How about lets fire the Minnesota connections, Hire a new coaching staff that can produce both good defense and quit trying to save a retread quarterbacks career. Fans pay huge money to go to the NFL games. We deserve a product on the field that is a whole lot better coached. The Broncos do have some good talent but the offensive side of the ball, in terms of coaching and the starting quarterback are a disaster!

He’s ignorant, he’s forgetful, he looks like a dumb ass and I hate listening to him , he’s in motivating and he’s lost the locker room . Is that enough ?

  • Ralph - 2 years ago

    Like Today!!

  • Ron Burgandy - 2 years ago

I am fine with keeping Fangio if we fire Shurmur.

  • Brad - 2 years ago

Don’t fire him… let him stay on… and lose! It’s always a good day when Donkey nation loses!

  • Anthony Gomez - 2 years ago

Sorry Vic,but your just not getting the job done!lose to the Browns, ???? lol!! ENOUGH SAID!!!

  • Matt Franklin - 2 years ago

Well some of the blame should be on the GM who
Was brought in to fix all these issues of years past. So the OC, head coach and GM should respectfully be put on notice with someone let go for playing catch up and behind the entire first half of all the games. There needs to be urgency with the office and stop using the defense as a scape goat for the office, OC and head coach not putting them in a position to do better.

  • Rich - 2 years ago

Oh yea trade Gordon Chubb and lock to Texans and whatever picks bring in Watson

  • Rich - 2 years ago

Trade Gordon for picks and start Williams. I’m sick of the boring 50/50 split. How can Williams get going when you take him out of game. Clearly he’s a better back.

  • FRANK HUBBARD - 3 years ago

I believe that Fangio needs to be fired because the team has become too predictable; he is not good enough to be a head coach in the NFL.

  • thomas - 3 years ago

The broncos should fire Vic Fangio and hire Kubiak! # BringbackKubiak

  • john - 3 years ago

I think the Denver Broncos should fire Vic Fangio even though they started 3-0, he should be fired after losing 4 straight games. #FireVicFangio #DenverBroncos

  • Dick - 3 years ago

Let him tank for a good draft choice then hire Eric Bieniemy and sign Aaron Rodgers. Instant contenders.

  • Jason - 3 years ago

Fire him now. He has proved this team just will not play for him. So tired of watching my Broncos suck,,year after year, after year. Get a real Head Coach and a damn real quarterback. That's a start guys and everyone seems to see it but you!

  • Rod - 3 years ago

Fire him, but not until the season is over. He is not only the head coach, but the defensive coordinator as well. Who would replace both of him? I hate to say it, but that is the only logical way to do it. Or maybe demote him to d-coord and move someone up to temp hc?

  • Vam Mettler - 3 years ago

Pat Schumer needs to go right now and maybe Vic at the end of the year. For a offensive coordinator to only run the ball 12 times in Clevland, terrible no wonder Teddy had to run for his life.
Been a Brincos fan since the early 70s and now the defense also looks terrible, the d line could not make a tackle the backs had to do it after they gained 8 yards almost every time.
Sure we have injuries but so does everyone, they really need to suck it up or they will lose to Washington too.

  • Viet - 3 years ago

Get all new staff , trade T.Bridgewater , put in Lock, get all receivers healthy, pat Von Miller what he deserves to keep him

  • Lincoln Landrum - 3 years ago

The OC is awful, but, once again, the real problem is the offensive line. Bridgewater, who is a pretty good scrambler, is immediately running for his life. Gordon and Williams are both great RB’s, but can’t get through the line and last, but not least, the receivers have to settle for 2 or 3 yard receptions because if they go any further the play is already over.

  • Gilbert - 3 years ago

Hold on to Fangio, he already has too much on his plate but have him give up the defensive play calling to Donatell
Fire Shumur, not sure what he’s even there for, he has no knowledge of calling offensive plays. Not even sure how he even became the head coach of the NY Giants Give that spot of calling the offense to the QB coach

  • Larry Cookston - 3 years ago

Fangio should be fired. He is not even a good defensive coach. Our defense played terrible against Cleveland and the secondary looked like a fly zone. While Patrick Surtain was a good draft choice, we need a good quarterback and I would have drafted Mac Jones. Teddy Bridgewater is not the answer. Right now, I would play Drew Lock. At least give him time to develop. Can't get any worse than it is now.

  • Dave - 3 years ago

Should have not been given the opportunity to Be the Head Coach this year. His record speaks for it self!!!!!

  • Richinwhb - 3 years ago

It doesn’t matter who the coach is when you do not have a good quarterback. Denver has gone through the most QB’s in the NFL since Manning left. Management needs to draft or trade for a top tier QB. The only teams with winning records have a good QB.

  • Connie - 3 years ago

    BRING BACK KUBIAK!

  • Tim - 3 years ago

I say clear the Bronco's of the Minnesota connection that's dragging the Bronco's out to pasture, Shurmur and Teddy to step aside.. We're losing games via offense, OC and QB aren't working.

  • Ed - 3 years ago

When are the folks in the front office going to realize that a new quarterback each year isn't going to solve the problem until you build a decent offensive line to protect him? Who in their right mind would would want to be the quarterback in Denver and get beat to hell? Denver will probably lose most of the games the have left this season between injuries and coaches on the hot seat. It's very difficult to witness the same problems year after year. It's time to wake up!

  • Matt Chico - 3 years ago

Both starting linebackers out for the season. Jerry Juedy and Hamler out. Chubb injured, Albert O’… now Von Miller. We bring in Kaiser for depth at LB, he’s out. Bridge’ dealing with injuries last 3 weeks. And All we kept hearing all week was “ the poor Browns are dealing with injuries”. What a load of crap.
This Denver brass first and foremost needs to fire the strength and conditioning coach.
Healthy, the Broncos win at least 2 of these last 4 games. Yes Fangio is not the answer as head coach. And yes Shermer is boring and adds nothing to the offense. But Denver should be a 5-2 team at this point.
That said, bring in an offensive mind, I like the Bienemy idea. Draft a QB, (of course Fields should have been the selection) , optimistic as I am about the talent on this team, this season is circling the drain. Unless BIG changes occur and fast. The lack of linebackers is going to be the most difficult issue. We saw that last night in Cleveland.

  • Tony Rivers - 3 years ago

He hasn't done any good since he got here as head coach and if he was a defensive mastermind well then he lost that also cause the defense can't stop anyone thus far so it's time for him to go along with the offensive coach.

  • Ty - 3 years ago

    Fire Shurmer too

  • Reggie Regg - 3 years ago

Thank You Fangio it's been real.
    REAL CRAZY

  • Reggie Regg - 3 years ago

Thank You Fangio it's been real.
    REAL CRAZY ????????‍????????????????????????????????????‍♂️

  • Dan - 3 years ago

How about building a respectable offensive line. No QB is gonna succeed when he’s continuously being flushed and sacked. I’d hate to see the stupid rumor of Rodgers coming here come true only to have him get broken in half behind our OL at the end of his career.

Didn’t somebody call Shumur the QB Whisperer? Wrong on that one. A shame for Lock to get ruined by lousy coaching.

I was never one for the fire sale mentality but I think now it’s time. Tear it down to the ground and start over. We have some keepers but most should go.

  • Michael Naylor - 3 years ago

When you’re HC doesn’t have the awareness to Sit a hurt QB and Fire an OC that obviously can’t adjust or call a game that isn’t so predictable that we go 3 & out for the first half of every game this season? It’s been time to move on. Denver’s NOT going to make the playoffs. It’s time to start cleaning house and building for next year. Detroit will get their first win of their season against Denver. You heard it here 1st. Denver will not win another game this year unless they start changing things up. Keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve gotten. Clean house

  • Shane Tucker - 3 years ago

The season is over, fire that clown fire Elway and the entire bunch... How pathetic... So dissatisfied

  • Michele - 3 years ago

Horrible play calling. Uninspired. Predictable. If it doesn’t work, do it again. If it DOES work, stop doing it. Clean house from the top down. All Shurmer can call is the stupidest, most obvious and least effective play for any given situation. He’d last 2 seconds in Buffalo!!! Unbelievable that we were beat by a banged up Browns team led by, of all people, Case freaking Keenum!!!

  • If You See Kay V.F. - 3 years ago

The Denver Broncos are a Terrible, yes TERRIBLE football team. Sorry, but there is just no other way to put it! The last sensible (Thanks Todd Helton) move the front office made at QB was the free agent signing of Peyton Manning in 2012. Since then the QB's that the team has selected on draft day have been lame ducks. 2013 (234th overall) Zac Dysert - 2015 (250th) Trevor Siemian - 2016 (26th) Paxton Lynch - 2017 (253rd) Chad Kelly - 2019 (42nd) Drew Lock. Dysert, Siemian & Kelly were all long shots, so no harm, no foul. Lynch was a complete bust and should have never been drafted (Thanks Jerry Jones) as high as the Broncos selected him. Now they have (2nd string) Drew Lock - who they've been riding off into the sunset with the past three seasons. Lock is an average at best NFL QB. His NFL record is 8-10. His record at Missouri was 24-25. He appeared in two -middle of the road- bowl games and lost them both. He will never lead his team (Denver or elsewhere) to the playoffs. Denver needs to trade Lock and get whatever they can for him. Good riddance...The Broncos have missed big on drafting several excellent, playoff capable and even super bowl winning QB's the past few years. In 2012 they selected Brock Osweiler (57th) and passed on Russell Wilson (75th), Nick Foles (88th) and Kirk Cousins (102nd). They passed on Derek Carr (36th) and Jimmy Garoppolo (62nd) in 2014. Another miscue was in 2016 when they got fibbed into Lynch (26th) and passed up on Dak Prescott (135th). But Denver's BIGGEST mistake in recent years was selecting the injury-prone Bradley Chubb (5th) and let Josh Allen (Univ of Wyoming - right up the road) slip right through their fingers at (7th)!! Do not get me started on the fact that they passed on Justin Fields (11th) as well as Mac Jones (15th), both of whom just as easily could've gone in the top-5. I get it, Pat Surtain ll is an unbelievable talent and has the size and tools to be a very productive, probowl-type corner for the next 10 years. But QB's like Fields and Jones, both who have played in and WON Bigtime bowl games in their collegiete carrers, only come around every 10-20 years. Who knows, maybe Shailene can convince Aaron to leave Lambeau and come to Mile High. But if that doesn't happen, Denver must figure out their QB situation either via the draft or free agency before next spring..... Oh yeah, I forgot why I was here...... FIRE VIC FANGIO NOW!!!!!!!

  • R ramirez - 3 years ago

Wait until Dallas’ offense comes back off a bye at home vs the broncos. Holy cow!! It will be 48 to 3.

  • DimndDave1 - 3 years ago

When your your QB is hurt you run the ball.We have a good running game and I’m sure the O line would like to deal out some punishment for a change.Own the clock and help out our weak defense

  • brad - 3 years ago

this ass(fangio) couldn't get a team fired up with a flame thrower and a 12 yo on Madden could call better series of plays than shumer. let's just finish last and start with a QB early pick with some competent coaching. get rid of Elway and slow Von Miller too. VM has been a slacker since he got the big contract. skipped the second half as crybaby because he couldn't get to the passer.

  • Apollo - 3 years ago

Let’s be real. We spent a ton of money on the secondary to a bunch of bums that were mediocre with their previous teams. Trying to re create the No Fly zone. Denver will never have a complete secondary like that again. And the reason they were so good is because the defensive line was stout. We haven’t had a pass rush the last 6 years. The Broncos are SOFT from the top all the way down. Bringing in old defensive mind coaches that weren’t that good of defensive coordinators. Look at Wade Phillips. Great defensive coordinator. Sorry coach. We missed our window on drafting a top tier QB the last several years. And a top tier coach the last several years. None of these washed up quarterbacks were able to do anything with there prior teams and the Broncos think they can recreate the magic by signing a these guys who would be backup QBs anywhere else. Had they started to do an actual rebuild after Kubiak left. We as Bronco country could’ve did our rebuild during that time, and be a better team and organization instead of the downhill slope this organization is at now. They need to get rid of the Fangio, Shurmur, special teams coach, defensive line coach, Miller , Chubb, Darby, Fueller. And actually start a rebuild. Because this organization is performing like the Jaguars. And being ran to the ground. The need an Owner. They need a whole new philosophy here in Denver. Because the bandaids they keep putting on the wound has completely opened up to a bandaid doesn’t stop the bleeding.

Like I say to all, I have retired from the Army after 20 years of service. A melting pot of cultures, personalities genders, religions and etc.. I have led Soldiers as well as followed Leaders. I have seen, led and been led by good and toxic personnel. My point is I think Vic is probably someone cool to hang out with but as Leader at least at this level of coaching he has no influence on the team or staff to light a fire under their buttocks to get them fired up to win. Paton has recruited an arsenal of defense players to be a top rated defense only to be outcoached and played so far this season. An offense with so many weapons but to only be playing each player at their own potential and not as a team asset.
But I am no one and I don't see whats behind the walls of the locker room. But I think he should move on so this team can start rebuilding. QB is a place to start at for the positions and for the organization there is alot of cleaning up to do if it took them this long to see what the fans have seen sitting at the seats looking down weeks ago. DB4L just a concerned fan.

  • Patrick - 3 years ago

I don't believe that Fangio should be fired, but should be moved to Defensive Coordinator. Shurmur deffinetly needs the boot. I'm not gunna blame him entirely if we had jeudy and hamler I think the team would still be undefeated. BUT its shurmurs job to make us successful even when we're missing pieces and he's just not that good of a play caller..

  • Jay - 3 years ago

At this point, only 7 games into the season and Fangio's contract is up at the end of the season and a real owner moving in, in March, no. We are done with a fork in it. Fangio will be gone after the last game, Shurmer will be done. Lets tank and get a new owner, Eric Bienemy at coach, and probably a top 5 or 3 draft pick.

  • Scott - 3 years ago

It is sad that as a lifelong Bronco fan that I have had to watch the proud Bowlen, Elway, Shanahan Broncos turn into the pathetic mediocre Minnesota Vikings. Patton “I am going too pass on Fields so I can look like a genius, resurrecting my old choice from the Vikings, Bridgewater. And basically for free!” Well I am proud of Bronco nation for being done with this pathetic, coaching, management and not being ok with middle of the road, Patton and Fangio.

  • JJ Black - 3 years ago

Our Defense had improved but all of a sudden fail to complete a win. While the best picks we had are ALL injured...wtf is this coach thinking? He needs to NOT fix it but Step Away from the Head Coack spot immediately!

  • Russ Leary - 3 years ago

Vic Fangio is a defensive marvel but here in Denver he's supposed to be a Head Coach. He's spreading himself too thin. He's NOT holding his Coordinators accountable. How can he .... He handcuffs them. Make Fangio the Head Coach and Defensive Boss keeping Donatell. Make Munchack Assoc Head Coach in charge of the offence. Make Shula the OC and play caller. Fire Shurmer.

  • James - 3 years ago

If we fire Fangio we need to fire Shurmur, this team has great players but the play calls are getting us whooped

  • James - 3 years ago

The fact that Vic sangio is supposed to be a defensive mastermind and our team looks the way it does the dude done fired himself already

  • Angel - 3 years ago

Vic at best is a good DC, he has not shown anything special, plus has no excitement what so ever, and it shown in the way theam performs on a weekly basis.he need to along with PS.

  • JC - 3 years ago

Sticking with a QB that can't throw down field and only can only get 2 Tds a game unless the game is out of hand is absolutely ridiculous. Everybody watching the game last night knew Drew Lock had to come in. Fangio and Patton are dying on the vine for Teddy B at the expense of the Denver fans and the rest of the team. Fire them both.

  • EstyG - 3 years ago

Anyone who has every played madden once would make a better play caller than shurmer, or fangio. Can't believe our organization is allowing this embarrassing play to continue. absolute garbage, pat bowlen would never stand for this. what next we lose to a team with no qb? o wait been there done that. I can't imagine how it can get any worse.

  • Tim Bo - 3 years ago

I cannot watch another game coached by the two stooges. It’s unbearable

  • Barry McCockiner - 3 years ago

    And Shurmur!!!!!

  • Ameri - 3 years ago

Fire Elway and all the coaching staff. They have embarrassed the team for too long.

  • Roosevelt - 3 years ago

I can do a better job than Fangio with no prior coaching experience. Fangio needs to be fired immediately in an effort to salvage the season and save the fanbase. (ticket sales were sold out again this season). Bridgewater needs to be benched, he is not effective for the long pass and does not have a strong arm; take away his feet and we get another loss. This is a terrible combination and I hope Mr. Bowlen makes some changes QUICK!

  • Coltin - 3 years ago

Vangio has proven 3 years straight he is not a viable head coach. He needs to go back to DC. He is not the person to get denver over this now 5 year slump. Changes are needed.

  • conrad - 3 years ago

it is time for fangio to go. the season is lost, but the final 10 games could be used to figure out what the team really has. I suspect removing shurmer will be necessary as well. how about doing something completely outside the box, promote rick azzani as the interim hc.

  • Tim M - 3 years ago

Many, Many injuries have led to the team’s performance. Imagine your business losing over half of the top performers and competing with your competitors fully staffed. It the injuries were minimal then perhaps he should go. There are some coaches and players that definitely need to go.

  • George Hoskins - 3 years ago

I'm never one for wanting someone to lose their job but this was a bad hire from the start. Mr. Fangio is not a head coach. He is a great DC but hasn't shown any ability to bring in a consistent offensive. Schumer was trash in Ney York and I don't know why anyone thought he would be good in Denver. Mr. Elway is at fault here as well as is the ownership situation. Denver has respectfully "always" had a good defense. It was and is offensive coaching and play making that Denver has needed since elway left. We got Manning for 3 golden years and everyone forgot about the 15 years before that. News flash it sucked too. .make a change before you waste the entirety of the season watching the same story play out again.

  • Eddie - 3 years ago

PS and Vic both need to be gone like yesterday

  • Nick - 3 years ago

Pat Schumer too. I would of fired that dude after the first three games last year.

  • MICHAEL - 3 years ago

This should have been done 2 weeks ago when we couldn’t get off the first snap of the game. Pathetic.
