As a recovering addict with a chronic illness, I'm always excited to see addiction portrayed in a very real way on a platform like Hulu or Netflix so that people can see that addiction is not just homeless junkies wanting to get high. Dopesick showed that this can happen to anyone.
Your friend, your family member, even your own doctor. No one is immune. People have been getting high long before oxycontin came around, but that really did have a effect on the opiate crisis. Because it was advertised as not being addictive, people who would normally never take a percocet or a Vicodin ended up taking an oxycontin because it was advertised as being non addictive. I also think it's important when people get to see just how effective medication assisted treatment is. Methadone and Suboxone work and they really do save lives. I'm so glad that this material was given to people who could do it justice the writing and the actors are absolutely amazing and yes heartbreaking. I hope that more people take the time to watch it and maybe get a better understanding of how things like this can happen.

It was so informative heartbreaking and real. I feel like I k ow personally each character. Who ever did the casting was brilliant. At very least I hoow someone in the Sackler family saw this or someone told them about it. It's so sad to hear that this year was the worst for deaths from overdoses. Thanks to everyone for your extraordinary extremely hard work and crim the heart acting everyone put into this. Bravo Bravo Bravo.
