Gabriel Union and Ann Dowd were the only 2 actors in my opinion that truly captured the fictional characters they played. The other actors were terrible. Should have allowed the original actors to play their own roles.

Wow truly horrible. I could only watch 5 minutes before turning it off. Actors tried so hard to do the predecessors. Jo’s was terrible, Tootie was almost 50, and Aniston improperly cast. Different stokes had no Kimberly so they just had to fallback on racial stereotype jokes. Hope they got paid well because anyone that says they liked it had no idea about the original series and meaning it gave us each week. Go back to the drawing board Kimmel. Show some values and class.

Why in the Different Strokes they have someone play the daughter? Todd Bridges mentioned her in his opening.

Ann Dowd understood the assignment. To truly reenact the episode was to play Charlotte Rae playing Edna Garrett. I love Jennifer Aniston, but sadly she just seemed like Rachel Green reading Blair’s lines. I still don’t understand why they had 40- and 50-something actors playing these roles instead of 20-somethings. If they wanted to do that, why not just cast the original Blair, Tootie, and Natalie? I guess it was a ratings thing to bring in more A-listers. It was a fun reminiscence, but would have been a wasted half hour without the brilliance of Ann Dowd.

Jennifer Aniston did horrible job playing Blair. Nothing endearing or cute about Blair even appeared.

The one that played Joe missed the mark also

  • Denelle L Ingelido - 4 years ago

I agree the chick who played Joe did lousy but all the others did great

Why did Nancy mccann not show up for the new show she was always my favorite

Ann Dowd was the star of the evening, other than seeing the original stars of the two shows. She captured, mostly, the spirit of Charlotte Rae's Edna Garrett. I did like the actress who played Natalie, and Kathryn Hahn did resemble Jo -- even if she overacted. However, though these episodes may be "classic," I didn't remember either of them from the original shows.

The Jo character was way way way over the top!!! Over acting for sure!! But overall it was not bad!! Other than seeing the original Natalie who has not aged well!!

Loved both shows, hope they do more!
