I tend to start with looking directly at the work itself. The questions I ask myself as I contemplate my next career move are as follows.
1. Is it rewarding work?
2. Do I believe in the products or services the organization is providing?
3. Will the position challenge me and allow me to grow as a professional?
4. Is the company innovative and competitive in the market?
5. Does the company have good client satisfaction scores?
6. Can I provide value to the clients/customers and to the company?
7. Do I believe I can be successful and be happy there for at least 5 years.
If I can answer all of those questions to my satisfaction, then we move on to comp, benefits, location, etc.
