I think it is important to understand that UCH AND Banner do not “just” transport to their own hospital. Every patient is given a choice. Due to COVID surges ALL hospitals have had days where they had to transfer patients to another facility. Being a Level 2 all serious traumas will go to NCMC, as long as it’s closer. Banner ambulance HAS had response issues for years as UCH is having now. The call volume is rapidly increasing and their are ambulance shortages everywhere. I have worked at both facilities and have seen it. UCH is 2 weeks into serving Greeley, there will be growing pains. To those reading, also understand many of the negative comments are current Banner employees. Both services have amazing paramedics snd EMTS. Focus on the fact you are cared for regardless of who comes to your home. It’s the fire departments you should be more concerned with.

This decision was not based on what is best for the citizens of Greeley. My father was taken to UC Greeley by a UC Health ambulance. UC Greeley was full, so they had to transfer him to NCMC. Why was he automatically sent to UC Greeley when they don't have beds and cant handle the additional ER patients. Aren't ambulance services supposed to do what is best for the patient? I'm frustrated and don't believe this change was best for Greeley.

I forgot to mention that Banner is based is Phoenix and UCHealth is a local Colorado company.

Greeley Fire POLITICS showing their classless colors once again. As an employee that’s been on both sides of this in Northern Colorado, Greeley citizens can be guaranteed this was not a decision prioritizing the level of patient care. To bypass a hospital within your city where you have certified higher level care, is non-sense and sickening. UCH can’t even cover the districts they currently have contracts with/ 35 minute call times? Hence why more surrounding areas are looking to replace UCH medics. Any statement from the new Chief saying “demands are being met”, is bogus. Speak with the medics on those rigs and the fire departments they work along side of. I’m saddened that patients will end up having delayed responses and transferred out of town to be cared for appropriately… supporting Loveland, Fort Collins, Aurora…glad my tax dollars don’t contribute to Greeley Fire any longer.

    Let’s go Brandon!

It interests me that the recent GT article quotes GFD Chief Kruznick (sp?) saying that response demands and times have been met seamlessly. I have friends in neighboring departments saying UCH is pulling their contract ambulances to cover Greeley, treating the other municipalities as secondary. Kersey ambulances responding to West Greeley for 15 minutes or more...

Who ever just commented anonymously definitely works for Greeley Fire

I would encourage anyone reading the comments to reference the article written on 12/9 by Greeley Tribune journalists about this subject. I think an unofficial poll which requires no validation from the commenters and allows multiple entries to be fraught with disgruntled slant and bias. Seems like a lot of speculation without data to back it up by current commentators.

Banner's been the safety net of Northern Colorado for decades and this is how the city repays them. Sad.

It's sad that the residents of Greeley are clueless on their emergency services. Greeley Fire / UCHealth can't cover the normal 911 surge call volume and routinely pull the Evans, LaSalle and Kersey ambulances to cover Greeley. Let's hope those communities don't need those assets. It's not even a snow event yet and there is delayed response time to calls. If you need a transfer from UCHealth Greeley to MCR, PVH or Aurora expect to wait a long time or be prepared for a helicopter bill as that's not 911 so they won't touch it. As a citizen you can pull the contract and review was signed by GFD and the city of Greeley. Follow the money and you will have a better understanding of why the change. Hopefully GFD will be transparent in giving the citizens of Greeley accurate reports that outline delays, requesting non-Greeley ambulance responses and what those time frames were. I won't hold my breath ...

Its funny that a year and half before this vote they had kicked Banner Health out of the Fire Stations in Greeley . UC Health walks in and takes over .Oh how the wheels are greased in Greeley . NCMC has a very long history of great support to the community and surrounding area. Its sad to see the City of Greeley and there politics don't recognize this. Rock on Banner Health NCMC

I cannot believe that the city of Greeley would partner with a company that will just take patients out of Greeley to MCR. Banner health has been the community hospital for decades and supports jobs for thousands of Greeley citizens. This move takes revenue out of the city, and will produce money driven care. This was not a patient centered move. This move had nothing to do with patients or care.
