I cannot for the life of me understand why you ended this series. Wildly popular with so many opportunities to explore. If Showtime thinks that Harrison - the sniveling brat can fill the shoes of this masterful actor and move this series forward, you are delusional. I won't be watching!

You should have let dead dogs lie if this was the end-game for this series. You turned a gold mine into a bitcoin crash for what purpose? You already 'killed' him off in season 8. - he should have stayed dead if this was the plan on how to end Dexter. God, you people are so clueless of your audience.

The only "out" for this season that left Dexter alive
for future "living" escapades would be for him to try to blame Deb for being the BHB to get Angela off his back. Doing so would have made this season and any future seasons the shark-jump that Dexter became after Season 4. Ending it the way they did makes up a little bit for the goofy original series finale. Even having Dex return in a "Harry" capacity would be weak at best and would tarnish any value that this "make up" series / season had to offer. I usually tell people that they should not bother watching any season after season 4. Now I will tell them that if they do, they will have to watch this season, too. I'd really hate to watch another shark-jump so I'm hoping this is the very very end of the story.

I would only watch season 2 if Dexter would somehow cheat death. Harrison's character is confusing and unstable. It wouldn't make for a good spin off.

  • Katt99 - 2 years ago

Harrison took so much pride in his Batman father. He took the code to heart. If you kill good people, you can't be allowed to get away with it. Dexter was and is loved by everyone who watched him, but the deaths that ensued in order for him to comply with Rule #1 messed him up to much. He never wanted to become the old man at the retirement community looking at a cigar box of teeth. He was loved by his son enough to put him down humanely instead of making him go to prison or be alone again. I think Harrison will come to be more controlled in the life as a true vigilante not just led by a dark passenger, but with his father's guidance. Without the addiction, but with a list for actual justice. Letting the cops try first... If they can't, well...

I was waiting for Harrison to start driving out of town and then turn around and go back because he belonged in this town. He wasn't the kind of personality to run away, like Dexter.

    ????????????????????????????????????????

Dexter finale shows all of Michael c. Hall fans why we love this actor. I applaud his ability to keep us captivated by his superb performance and his unique aura., I was bored and perplexed with all the other cast ,they were out of their element for this one of a kind shows. Please don’t bring that spoiled, selfish Harrison to replace dexter’s legacy

  • Natalie - 2 years ago

I am so upset that they killed DEXTER!!! WHY ? It was such a great series and MICHEAL C. HALL was so great in DEXTER. I honestly cried ! WE will miss you DEXTER ????????????????????

I would have to say I do not like the outcome. I think they should have sent him to prison like Bundy. That is not political justice because evil has to die for that to happen he must go to prison. I believe he should have neared death but did not die open up the case for the bay harbor butcher and have justice. Harrison goes crazy after how his father was and may follow in his fathers footsteps of being a cop to catch people like Dexter not to kill but imprison. Fascinated with the legal system or something because he hates his father for putting them in that situation it would also help character development and it would broaden the story on where a spin could go.

Dustin - They had 10 years to fix it and still managed to piss it away. This new season is all over the place, and once again they wrote themselves into a corner. It's so off brand for Dexter to make soooo many stupid mistakes. People don't change that much. They butchered the opportunity to build a family legacy built on blood. Phillips said it would be "upsetting" ..only thing I'm upset over is how they expect me to believe the BS I've spent the last 10 weeks watching. That wasn't Dexter Morgan.

  • Dustin - 2 years ago

Allison Nevitt you said it just right! Why bring the show back in this manner? I understand killing him off and don't hate the way they did it but if they only intended on coming back for 1 season then they should have left it alone. They could have squeezed at least 3 seasons out of this especially if they ran off to LA. I think it was a spit in the face to long time Dexter fans and was a big tease only doing 1 season. I liked Dexter because it just was what it was, vigilante justice! Didn't need to turn into a morality show. I'm gonna miss Dex/Jim

  • alan marler - 2 years ago

Come on really????? You get everyone excited for more Dexter, but kill him off in one season? What the heck was the point of that? Can’t believe I wasted time out of my life for this crap! Thankful for Yellowstone!!!

  • Freddie - 2 years ago

Bring Michael C.Hall back. Let him escape somehow.

  • Cathy Ussery - 2 years ago

My husband and I have enjoyed the Dexter series. All of them. We would have liked to see much more. Is it possible that Dexter’s bullet wound could not have been fatal after all? Yes, we would watch more. No doubt!

  • Garilyn - 2 years ago

WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY, Clyde, did you do this to Dexter and his fans? Dexter is far too smart to be killed off by his silly son who is not smart. The local law figured Dexter out? Come on now. Really? I was so disappointed by Dexter’s stupid end that my chest ached. Why kill Dex?

  • Allison Nevitt - 2 years ago

Clearly the majority of you were never Dexter fans to begin with. Should've just left it alone, as crappy as the original ending was this new BS is 10 times worse.

  • Daniel - 2 years ago

Jaysus jones it dam fake show, no one could get away with this. Grow up dude.

  • Daniel - 2 years ago

It is creator right, but I am sad I think maybe could have done another two season.,however I could not get past how they seem to eraser the fact that he was not a wanted man from eight years ago. I though they figure out he was person of interest. But dexter was a killer and we can not really see getting way with I. Modern times. Let hope Harrison can change and evolved into better human being then his father.

  • Justin Fratto - 2 years ago

They shouldn't have brought back the season to kill him off. Harrison was a bad actor and a small town sheriff figures him out but Miami metro and the FBI couldn't. You ruined a great show

  • JM - 2 years ago

Unfortunately not an epic ending such as Season 8. I'm really upset they had Harrison kill him. He hadn't killed yet- just not right. There could have been a few more episodes to get through the new findings and build up to a better ending. Even going to jail would have been better.

  • Rick - 2 years ago

Screw your morality ending, screw your small town sheriff cracking a case using freakin google that the entire FBI and one of its greatest agents couldn't solve properly. 4 years of people pandering to critics instead of fans... 10 years of unorignal, remaking, gender swapping, race baiting, crap... 6 years of pc, gender identity pandering, woke garbage... It's time for original plots again, it's time for fresh ideas to be heard, it's time for original characters and for them to be written as a person just being themselves and not have their race or sexual orientation define them or the show/movie....but I'm sure I've said something in here that people don't wanna know... A real change will occur soon

  • Shaun Alexander - 2 years ago

Dexter SHOULDNT DIE FOR AT LEAST 5 SEASONS! IM SO PISSED ITS KIND OF OPEN ENDED BUT I THOUGHT HE FAKED IT FOR HARRISON TO "LIVE" BUT LATER SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE BLOOD SPATTER ANALYST PULL SOME SHIT OUT THAT MADE HARRISON THINK HE WAS DEAD?????????????????????...????????????????????????????????????????BOTH LEAVING IRON LAKE HARRISON TO LA N DEXTER MORGAN (JIM LINDSAY) & NOW SOMEONE ELSE IN THE TWIN CITES, MN! PLEASE WE NEED WAY MORE THAN 10 EPISODES! I WAS SOOOOO HAPPY DEXTER WAS BACK N THE 10 EPISODES N HES DEAD? WTF.....UH UGGGHHH!

  • Jurina Blake - 2 years ago

With so many disappointments hitting the world now, we didn't need another one. Forget about teaching moral lessons. This was supposed to be enjoyed viewing. As one said above, the ending ruined what could have been a beautiful beginning.-----I actually cried I was so upset. Never did I not enjoy any of Dexter's shows, or the acting of Michael C. Hall. You did us a real dirty on this one. Wish I had never watched it in the beginning, I am that upset about it. -------- Yes Clyde Phillips, did you really think Dexter fans would be happy about this?

  • Esat - 2 years ago

I was always a fan of Dexter from the first series to now. I hated that the new series is over but I agree with the ending . Dexter was a killer, a sociopath who enjoyed murdering his "guilty" victims. He went against the law and morally he got what he deserved even if it was at the hands of his own son who maybe now will be rid of his "dark passenger".

  • Joe Holloway - 2 years ago

Extremely disappointed, I don’t care how many people didn’t like the ending of the original series. I loved the fact that Dexter cheated death and the police.

I did not watch Dexter because I wanted a lesson in ethics and morals. In my opinion Phillips was extremely lazy with the ending. Nothing short of pandering to the critics..

At least the finale of the Sopranos allowed me to decide Tony’s fate.

This was not a shocking ending it won’t turn the internet upside down. When my friend told me that Dexter was returning I said I hope it doesn’t return because they will just bring him back to kill him. I had no interest in that ending.

You failed and I feel you betrayed the series. Dexter was the smartest man in the room always. He wasn’t super human but he has extremely strong Survival instincts. Yet you want us to believe that Lundy and all of his experience not to mention officers on the case couldn’t identify Dexter but a local small town cop who by the way hasn’t been able to crack a 25 year case with Kurt is going to be the one to bring Dexter to justice?

The only logical ending would have been for Dexter to pack up and leave after the way she treated him at Christmas. His instincts would have screamed get out.

I can only speak for myself but you ruined The franchise!

  • Bubba Morgan - 2 years ago

The ending of the show was a big let down it made the whole season turn from really good to yeah that sucked . That guy was not the dexter anyone knew. He would've never panicked like that and given up so easily , the only saving grace would be if the they came back and the ending was a dream after he had been arrested otherwise it's going down with a long list of other shows that ending ruined the series , however with dexter not only to they do it once but this would be 2x that they messed up the ending

  • Howard Wereold - 2 years ago

Dexter: New Blood season 1 came to the right conclusion. Dexter was supposed to die at the end of the original Dexter. Him originally surviving the hurricane was unsatisfying to his narrative and didn't provide closure.

I don't need any new seasons with Harrison, I feel satisfied, but if they do continue the series Harrison provides opportunity to explore a new direction.

With Harrison as messed up as Dexter, there would be the chance to use the 'figurative Dexter' in his head like Dexter deals with his inner Deb.

  • Azwi - 2 years ago

Without Michael C Hall there will be no excitement in Dexter. It is interesting to see what Michael will do next and how he manipulate the justice system. His character ended too soon than I expected. I still feel like he was visualizing what will happen if he act the way things happen, trying to find his way out by escaping.

  • Jesus Jones - 2 years ago

fuck Clyde Phillips for ruining Dexter.

  • Beryl Stewart - 2 years ago

I love Michael C Hall as Dexter. I’m very upset that you’re going to kill him off because he’s the one that makes that show. You need to find someway to bring him back. Season two should have him alive.
