Baker is garbage can't see over line can't make right reads inaccurate as can be if we had any other decent 27 qbs in the NFL brown's in the playoffs because our defense when healthy is Superbowl caliper

I can’t believe all of the Baker & Stefanski haters on this comments thread. I agree with the comments of Bobby Bucyrus & Will Haight. In addition, not all teams suffered the same amount of key injuries to starters & key back-ups and COVID issues as the Browns did. The Browns were decimated by the total number of players who missed the Raiders & Packers game due to COVID. They lost to the Packers (#1 seed in NFC) at Lambeau Field by 2 points. I was there in person! They also lost to the Raiders by 2 points on a last play field goal! Blaming Baker is ludicrous. He is the best QB & leader that the Browns have had since they returned. Does everyone forget that he has had 4 different head coaches, 4 different offensive coordinators & 3 different offensive systems in 4 years?? How many QB’s could have any success with those conditions, no less take us to the playoffs & win a playoff game against the hated Steelers. Lastly, before he hurt his shoulder this year, he had the highest completion percentage (over 80%) in the NFL after the first 2 games. Baker haters are morons & probably fans from other teams? Look at the whole picture. The last thing that we need is constant change in QB’s, head coaches & GM’s like we had before. That was absolutely horrible. Lifelong Browns fan since 1957 who has always lived in NYC.

It is fair to add Baker regardless of the injuries because we would have won those games w CK but Baker was afraid of losing his job so he tried to play through it and ultimately caused the team to lose

People really act like Odell was the problem in Cleveland! It was Baker and Kev

Baker Mayfield was absolutely horrendous this season! He regressed and showed that all other qbs in his class is better and most of the qbs in the classes after. He’s one of the worst qbs in the league…. OBJ is making that ever more clearer by having scores 6 tdsin 6-7 games w the Rams vs 7 in 29 with the browns. Stefanski isn’t absolved here, he was one of the worst coaches this year. Not using Chubb and relying on Baker too much. Never played splitbacks w hint and Chubb in at the same time once! They could’ve put obj in the slot in that very formation and caused so much trouble but hey, I guess Baker and stefanski wanted to get out of the city bc it’s getting cold! Lastly, obj father releasing that video - don’t castigate the man, look at the video! OBJ IS WIDE OPEN AND BAKER WILL THROW IT PAST HOM TO SOMEONE DOUBLE COVERED OR NOT IN RANGE. I didn’t want Odell to leave but I did bc he was being wasted by coach and qb.

This is the coach’s fault… All teams have injuries and COVID issues. It is the coach’s job to deal with it and win. His dealing with OBJ when the team needed receivers was a screw up. Look how OBJ is doing with Rams he is their 1B receiver and scoring touchdowns. Also Mayfield should have been put on IR with his shoulder injury and operation. He hurt the team.

  • John John Smith - 2 years ago

OBJ deserting the team in mid season didn't help. And if the Browns had drafted a kicker in the 5th round like the Bengals did instead of going with someone released by several other teams, it might be them in the playoffs instead of the Bengals.

IT'S REALLY NOT FAIR HAVING BAKER INCLUDED CAUSE HE IS ALSO INCLUDE IN THE INJURIES. HE WAS INJURED ALL SEASON BASICALLY

  • Gladiator Dog - 2 years ago

With all the injuries, Covid-19, Stefanski could have done a better job with his play calling. He became predictable after his first year of coaching. He should have saved Baker from himself and made him sit out knowing that you have to save a player from himself. He coached not to lose instead of to win.
The team played undisciplined with too many penalties from encroachment to near fights on the opposing side lines. Stefanski, coach like you’re capable of coaching and start holding players feet to the fire when needed. You’re better than this, and Browns fans Worldwide desire better as well????

Please let's not forget the horrible officiating, which cost the Browns at least two games.

  • Bobby Bucyrus - 2 years ago

The Baker haters are crazy. While not perfect, he has been and will be a good QB for the Browns moving forward. Some of the biggest problems of the year were DROPPED passes, especially on 3rd and 4th downs. Injuries to the line really hurt us too. Nothing special about our special teams hurt us too. Many good offensive minded coaches call plays around the league and nobody says they should give it up. Nobody said he should give it up after his 1st year when he led us all the way to our 1st playoff victory in a million years. As a fan i trust in Andrew Berry (best GM weve had) and i believe his decisions and leadership will deliver a championship to all of us starving Browns fans soon enough!!!

The Browns with a very good running game kept choosing to have an injured and too short Baker throw when he should have given the ball to Chubb. Whatever happened to establishing the run to make passing more effective?

  • Hw - 2 years ago

I angry with a few of the comments before me, if mayfield wasn’t 100 percent why wasn’t the most expensive backup qb in the league put in to replace him? Another issue was the discipline for the stupid penalties? Good coached teams don’t do that and some of the play calling really has to come in to question? Let’s see what 2022 brings us if not a good one there will be some changes and we’ll deserved the fans of the browns deserve better!!!

  • Thomas Pschierer - 2 years ago

Baker should have sat if he wasn't effective. Bring in Keenum! But of course didn't happen. Boo hiss

  • Josh - 2 years ago

We missed the playoffs because Coach didn't have the balls to sit Baker when he got hurt. A healthy Case is more accurate than a broken Baker, and probably would've led to at least 1 more victory.

  • Jaye l Price - 2 years ago

Some of the comments are right on point. The coach threw the season away. Mayfield should have been set down after week 6. They still had a legitimate chance to win games and make the playoffs. I give Stefanski one more year. This was nonsense what he did to this team playing an injured and ineffective Mayfield this year and Berry signed off too. Unbelievable! Believing in Baker may cost Stefanski and Berry their jobs!

Never been a big fan of head coaches calling plays; they must fly their helicopters at a much higher altitude. Head coaches should lead in establishing culture and expectations, and facilitate/lead in establishing game plans. They then should let the coordinators, who are focused entirely on their areas of responsibility, do their jobs. Head coaches must be leaders, not doers.

Whoever said injuries a dumbass and forgot about the Titans gettin the #1 seed. Idk who dumber baker or the fanbase cuz they don't even know how they failed in the past or present

  • Mac McCloskey - 2 years ago

7 or less points in the 4th qts in more games than any one cares to remember. You can;t lay that at the feet of Baker. There is a time when the H C needs to say " Damn maybe I need to pull Baker and give him a rest" But the H C keeps doing the same STUPID thing over and over. And we all know You can't Fix Stupid. Unless you get a new play Caller

  • Will Haight - 2 years ago

Stefanski is easily the best coach we've had since resurrection. Baker is easily the best QB we've had since resurrection. Why supposed Browns Fans want to conclude our best coach and QB are the reason we didn't make the playoffs (the subtext being we need to get rid of them, and re-consign ourselves to the seventh circle of Hue Jackson and Johnny Manziel). This was a weird year overall in the NFL. Teams were white hot for two weeks and crush opponents, then go ice cold and drop a bunch of games. The best team in the AFC had 5 losses. Our starting lineup was a combination of revolving door and emergency room, with an injury hobbled QB unable to perform up to what we've already seen when he's healthy. Let's get away from Covid, repair Baker's torn Labrum, start holding voluntary yoga classes, and let MVP Andrew Berry do his always brilliant offseason thing. Stop trying to tear this team apart!

The refs bad calling and missed kicks didn’t help! Next season refs should be held accountable for bad calls!!!

  • Russ Wilson - 2 years ago

It doesn’t matter…. Did you see that quarterback play yesterday? Jimmy did… and he’s going to upgrade.

  • Ken Riddle - 2 years ago

Stepfanski had to.make the decisions to rest Baker when he was hurt .Or did the front office tell him what they wanted.Baker should have been rested and we probably could have wona few more games with Keenum or Mullens. Still had enough talent in the backfield but never used it properly. The defensive codinator needs to go along with the special team coaches. Terrible job all season.

  • James Floore - 2 years ago

I believe our problem is culture based, the top is the problem. The front office has to get on the right track before HC or QB can be successful.

  • Randal - 2 years ago

STEFANSKI is the HEAD COACH and the buck stops there. Bad play calling along with playing 60% players all comes down to HEAD COACH

  • CLeve2Cali - 2 years ago

This lays squarely on the shoulders of the Head Coach. (unless he was pressured to play Mayfield by Haslam). Stefanski chose to play an obviously injured and ineffective Baker Mayfield whole keeping the highest paid backup QB Keenum on the bench. Keenum has a history of taking another team to the playoffs and winning. It is that Simple...it was not COVID-19 it was Stefanski who threw away the season for some ridiculous reason...then He and Baker slaps fans across the face by sitting Baker in the last game for surgery...well...he needed surgery those other games he started in...Many teams understand do the things that gives your team the best chance to win...and then it's our beloved BROWN's taking the Short Bus route!!!

If we would have had a good kicker we would have won 2 more games

  • Denny Menendez - 2 years ago

In house distractions did not help either
