This is the heart of free speech in America — you're allowed to be wrong, but you're not allowed to disregard the truth. The standard should stay.
This doesn't seem fair — defamation is defamation, whether it was an accident or on purpose. I say the standard must be lowered.
On one hand, the powerful need to be checked; on the other, misinformation is rampant, and also needs to be reigned in. Perhaps we need several standards, rather than a blanket one.
Free speech should be absolute, whether truthful or dishonest. The standard should be higher.
This is not a issue/topic I care about.
