Why do people say Mason Rudolph is a mobile QB, Just because he moves doesnt mean he is mobile. Saying Rudolph is mobile is like saying Rudolph is the second coming of Dan Marino..which according to Mason Rudolph mobility standards probably puts Dan on the edge of being considered a mobile qb...
As for the question....none of this matters if they dont fix the Oline..... and also if we have to give up anything other than money to get any of those other qb's it makes it not worth it.. meaning if draft picks are involved its a no go.

    Kaepernick, really?
A 34 yr old QB who hasn't played in 5-6 yrs.
Must really like Stroud or Young in the 2023 draft.

    Colin Kaepernick.

  • Jason - 2 years ago

Mason is a 3rd string player at best

  • James Strandberg - 2 years ago

Jim, I couldn’t agree more. Give Kap a one year deal. See what’s left in the tank. I live in Reno, and Kap was the best QB to ever come from the Nevada Wolf Pack. STEELERS are the only team that has the guts to give him the shot he’s deserved for years now. (But it won’t happen).

Let’s face it, NO ONE will be able to replace Ben, plus take the pounding while waiting for the o line to gel.
I don’t think any on the list are the answer, would rather bank on the draft.

IMPROVE OFFENSIVE LINE LET RUDOLPH HAVE A FAIR CHANCE TO PROVE HIMSELF.

I think Haskins can become good in one year, because he can throw on the run. We have to have a mobile
pocket to be able to run the ball. We need to use the tight end more to open the wide recivers.
WE NEED TO COMPETE IN OUR DIVISION. So far I like the hires.

I'd like to see a mobile, affordable veteran free agent QB who has attributes that fit the scheme that our OC wants to employ. Not Rudolph or Haskins. Someone like Jacoby Brissett or Hunley from Baltimore.
If the free agents aren't available, then draft a QB.

  • Jerry dolash - 2 years ago

    I would go after Hunley

Nobody's going to be happy unless we get someone like Ben. We have been spoiled with having big Ben, A lot of you youngsters dont remember what we had to go thru with Terry Bradshaw, Took him 4 years to get his head strait, he was horrible the first 2 years and not much better the third but they stuck with him. I'm not saying mason is going to be anther Bradshaw but Geeze give him a chance now that he has had time to mature. Everybody just needs to relax, will be ok.

Mason was a second round draft pick and Haskins was a first. Both of these guys have the potential so they shouldn't bring in another veteran. I say give it to Mason. Maybe trade up to get Kenny Pickett, or Sam Howell may be just what they needed.

Kaepernick. The Rooney's are progressive enough to pull this off. It would be exciting to see if he can still play at a high level which I think he can. I served in the military and have no problem with an individual exercising free speech to make a valid point.

    Russell wilson

  • William Nichols - 2 years ago

Josh Dobbs better arm and smarter quarter back than Rudy.
Have a truly fair competition between Dobbs and Rudy. Dobbs will beat him. Not to scared to leave the pocket like Rudy. What you got to lose the Steelers are rebuilding.

  • Schuyler - 2 years ago

Kenny Pickett is way ahead of all these if he continues to improve, and he know the pittsburgh pkays and arena backwards

  • Edward Radvansky Sr. - 2 years ago

Rudolph, I see is the best choice. Strong arm, mobile, and a very good running back in Harris. Look at the mental aspect of this. When you know you are going to start and not maybe goes a long way with your mental outlook. With Rudolph playing a full season (barring injury) I think he will do very well. Offensive line needs help to protect the quarterback and move that defensive line for the running back. So, that is my input and I am sticking to it. Thank you.

  • Terry - 2 years ago

Why would you want a injury prone QB with a offensive line in transition. Or a QB more interested about taken selfies. And we damm sure don't want a running QB that will never win against good defensive corrid.

  • Darryl - 2 years ago

I would give ball to Jimmy G . Mason had his shot at it and did miserable.Haskins is a joke no OSU QB is worth anything in the NFL look at the history. Jimmys has At least 3/4 years.

  • Chris - 2 years ago

I wouldn't trade for any of them! They are already short on picks.
Would give Trubisky a shot if the price was right.
I believe it is Rudolphs job to loose.

  • Robert Meyers - 2 years ago

With that offensive line and the current group of WR's no matter what QB you plug in there you are throwing them to the wolves. Just look at all the FA's the Steelers signed during the 2021 season and the past 7 or 8 drafts says a lot. I don't think this current group of coaches isn't very good at recognizing talent. Or maybe the talent is there but the coaching and game planning is the problem. Personally, I think it is time for a complete coaching change. This coach thinks plug and play is a recipe for success and a strategy instead of building a good foundation through the draft and then plugging in a FA here and there. Checkout the last 7 or 8 drafts not many left on the team or in the NFL let alone being starters. Time for a coaching change.

Save the money on a quarterback this year. Give Rudolph a chance while you build the offense and defense so when you do get a good quarterback there's someone to support them and you might have better quarterbacks interested when they see how strong your steel wall is. Even if you come in last place you'll get better pics next year.

  • Donna Macy - 2 years ago

If Jimmy is who Shazier wants, that's the "okay" I need!

  • David - 2 years ago

    Josh Dobbs

  • william deater - 2 years ago

This is Masons job to lose... he was drfted to potentially be the successor to ben. He was placed in some unfortunate situations in his career.. Improve the OL to get the ground game going..Keep Mason around 25 pass attempts per game and do what the Steelers always do...Rely on the defense. As long as Mason is effective as a game manager and doesnt make critical mistakes the Steelers will be fine.

  • Stephen Myers - 2 years ago

Improve the O-line first. If they go chasing quarterbacks now, what does that say about their drafting of Mason Rudolph and Joshua Dobbs and ten the signing of Dwayne Haskins? It says that you made bad choices and wasted time and money. So hype up the mediocre QB's in the draft and then fill the biggest need, the offensive line!
