For the past 45 years I have been a theater coach and director of comedy, physical comedy, satirical/political parody and character development. Its in my blood along with large doses of calcium (i'm 68 and small- a poster child for osteoporosis) and take comedy very seriously.
So when I watched the the 4th season of Mrs. Maisel I was pulling out my hair and screaming at the TV...."ENOUGH ALL READY!!!"
I was so disappointed to see that the #1 rule of comedy of what NOT to do was happening over and over and over again. You went from a fast paced fun 3 seasons to a formulaic, repetitious, obnoxiously loud, "beat a dead clown" overdone schtick, cliche of a cliche, stick a fork in me I'm done episode after episode 4th season. You were trying so hard to be funny that you became a one trick pony comedy serial killer.
The only saving grace was the last episode when Mrs Maisel stopped running her mouth off and calmed down for one minute to listen to Lenny.
Please, please- pull back on the vaudeville on steroids approach to every conversation and comedy moment and allow room for us to enjoy the amazing characters you have developed and even more, the amazing actors who are portraying these characters.
Trust your audience to savor the story without beating them over the head with a big banana every moment.

Not the best season for me ...nothing can beat Steiner Jewish resort in the Catskills , Tony Shalhoub at his best! Season 4 had its moments though again Abe stole it ! The cape ♥ The accidentally taking communion and the Eulogy. I am just not loving Midge turning down money by way of not taking jobs and actually not taking the money offered by Shys camp ohh yeah and her letting Sophie goat her into the losing the perfect gig when she could have easily walked off stage with a smile...it just gives me anxiety that she owes everyone money and she has the nerve to just turn down an offer to tour with Tony Bennet??? I mean what about Susie's 10% how selfish! I hope she takes Lennys advice and season 5 makes her choices make sense to me and her holding out for what she wants was worth it! Or I will be heart broken ????

I have enjoyed all 4 seasons. I hope that they change their minds and season 5 will not be the last. Writing is just too good.
