My wife and I became fans after the fact. We watched all the reruns and like most of Downton Abbey fans who waited patiently throughout the years for a new season to begin, we fell in love with the Crawleys and their staff.
Watching Dame Maggie Smith act out her final role as the Dowager Countess, we too couldn't hold back the tears. What is worse is that the next day it hit me harder. With all the deaths we have endured in our family since the COVID outbreak, I felt like I had just lost another dear friend.

I was prepared, but that didn't stop the ugly cry from smearing my mascara. From that scene until the credits began to roll I was a blubbering mess. Her death stayed true to Violet's form, which is all we can ask. Very well done, perfectly acted.

As bad as I hate to admit it I do believe this great Masterpiece should end here and now.. Violet’s death should be the end and what better ending than the magnificent painting of her to hang through the ages.

The “B” plot was very reminiscent of Singing in the Rain, but it worked. So very glad I had a handkerchief in my purse! I needed it! I feel like this might be the last movie because all the lives and stories seemed to be all tied up and finalized. Loved the movie!!!
