For me New Amsterdam writers consistently choose to pivot around catastrophe and dilute good talent and ensemble potential. Disappointing. Many past instances, but let's stay in current script. I didn't particularly need for Max and Helen to have a wedding or to be married. I did want to see the personal and relational evolutions that would let last night's finale whatever was the dénouement seem real.

I honestly was never really a fan of Max and Helen together. However, that doesn’t mean I wasn’t heartbroken for both of them. I’m hoping we have some answers in season 5, and despite it all, I hope Max ends up back as medical director where he belongs.

I actually thought it was an interesting finale with all the characters experiencing unresolved conflicts in their respective personal relationships. Unfortunately," Sharpwin" has developed a very vocal cult following by fans and by some tv reviewers as well so the lack of a wedding created hissy fits of despair. ????
