Enumclaw's Allan and Joann Thomas have been found guilty of stealing more than $450,000 from local taxpayers. What do you think is an appropriate sentence?
Aggravated identity theft, of which they were both found guilty of, comes with a mandatory minimum of two years. That, and full repayment, should be enough.
Their crime wasn't violent, so I don't think any jail time is just. Full repayment, and a bar from public office, should suffice.
The mandatory 2 years isn't enough — they should serve far more time for the harm they did to their community.
I think the Thomases are innocent, and their convictions unjust. I hope they appeal.
This is not an issue I care about.
