Completely agree with Sam. Being remote or onsite has nothing to do with the quality or results of leadership. It comes down to your communication abilities, strategic thinking, and management skills. I've worked with both remote and onsite leaders and seen both work well and and not work at all.

You lead just as poorly in person as you can remotely. It comes down to how skilled the leader is.
