Some cities, like Croydon, NH, allow their community to vote on the city's annual budget - provided they show up to the meeting. Thoughts?
I think this is a great way to give power back to the people! We should implement this locally.
I like direct democracy, but you'd need to set aside several days for people to vote, not just one night.
I don't think I would participate in this sort of system - I enjoy being a part of a Republic and electing leaders to do this sort of thing for me.
This system would only serve those who are loudest and have free time on their hands - not the majority of residents.
Is there a way to have some of the budget approved by a local council, and some of it approved by the people? Best of both worlds.
This is not an idea I care to consider.
