What do you think of the proposal to double the tolls collected in the Sumner and Williams tunnels, while eliminating many tolls on the Mass Pike? (Poll Closed)

All gas taxes collected must go to the intended use, such as The Big Dig, infrastructure and maintance of the bridges and highways! As Bonds are retired, the tax should be reduced much like in propsition 2 1/2.

No turning any excess tax collection over to the General Fund.

Tolls are an inefficient way to raise taxes, the cost (booths, personnel, etc) of collecting the taxes as a percentage of the taxes collected is higher than most any other tax. By increasing the gas tax, the cost of collections should not increase, just collecting more dollars on every transaction, so this would lead to more of the taxes collected being available to cover the costs of road repairs, the big dig etc. The fact that the gas tax covers a larger group of users and therefore is more equitable is an added benefit.
