Honestly, I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out. My biggest regret is not hiking the Appalachian Trail right after grad school. Young, no job, no family, no obligations... I could have done it and still had plenty of time to get the job that led to my career.

Mentorship is an essential element for career development. Mentors can provide experienced-based guidance and perspective to help mentees avoid mistakes, or build confidence to venture down paths not otherwise taken for greater professional fulfillment.
