Anthony Novak was arrested and jailed over a parody FB profile of his local police force. He's now arguing his First Amendment rights were violated. Thoughts?
Police can't arrest people for speech they don't disagree with — Novak's rights were violated in the extreme.

The end of parody will be the end of life as we know it! It must be protected at all costs!

It's one thing to make a joke about police from your own profile, and another to impersonate a whole police department's Facebook page. Novak's arrest was justified.

A jury cleared Novak of police disruption charges; a judge dismissed his suit asking for damages. This should be over and done with by now.

This is definitely a free speech issue. Still, Novak was kind of a jerk for making fun of his police this way.
