Monday was Indigenous People's Day, as opposed to Columbus Day, which the state does not recognize as a state holiday. Thoughts?
America wouldn't be here without Columbus — replacing his holiday with another is taking away our culture and history.
Columbus brought disease and genocide to the indigenous people of America — it's far more appropriate to celebrate them than a monstrous murderer.
I don't really care what the day is called — I just want to be able to take the day off.
Could we keep Columbus Day and also celebrate Indigenous People's Day on a different date? I don't see why it has to be an either/or situation.
This is not something I care about.
