Sam! I wanted to vote for you. I’m an 80s kid, but even so, Josh and Adam’s dismissal of Jurassic Park was like fingernails on a chalkboard. (In fairness, I may be access to more objectivity than Josh or Adam. While raising my boys I’ve seen Jurassic Park three times in the theater. So good!) Great choice, Sam!
But, I’ve also taken my youngest to Jaws during its recent rerelease. Point for Josh.
Adam has points with his masterful picks too, but in the end I had to pick the list with Minority Report. I contend if Minority Report was “a film by Christopher Nolan”, it’d be as revered a film as Inception—a smart, crowd-pleasing sci-fi action piece with impeccable sequences. Plus, Minority Report sits along side A Few Good Men as one of the few times Tom Cruise’s star power is leveraged to elevate an already great project. Spielberg does that—helps us see an actor’s true potential.
It wasn’t an easy choice, but I gotta go with Josh.

Coming in hot with the Sam defense: it's the list that showcases Spielberg's breadth and diversity the best.
Although I appreciate the thorough representation of Spielberg's historical drama/war side on both Josh and Adam's lists (if Sam had Schindler's List, it would have been an *easy* decision), Sam's list has...
-> his best transcendent sci-fi film (ET),
-> his best biographical film (Catch Me, also his most effortless blend of genres),
-> his second-best practical effects showcase (Jurassic Park, just short of Jaws)
-> his only musical (West Side)
-> obligatory Indy (Temple of Doom, still so fun)
Justice for Sam! It's a deceptively strong and fantastically idiosyncratic list.

Anyone who has Raiders of the Lost Ark, my all time favorite film on their list is an automatic vote from me. Also having the eternal film classic Jaws and Minority Report on the list helps.
