@No Spam - The same works in Outlook (assuming it's configured in M365 settings to allow). I specify "conference" in your example with the specific conference I'm registering for (e.g., myemail+HIMSS@emaildomain.com), and it's interesting to then see the spam that is generated from each respective conference registration... Obviously HIMSS is the big one, probably not surprising to anyone. I was very surprised though by spam from attending ViVE earlier this year, as I didn't expect it to be as big of a spam generating source as it was...

Should we receive a certain amount of money, or a discount, for allowing the use of our personal info?

Remember, those “annoying vendors” are paying more than a pretty penny for those contacts as part of the exorbitant conference exhibition fees . If contacts are removed from the conference “benefits” for exhibiting, expect to have fewer vendors and to be paying even more to attend those conferences.

No because 1) Vendors should give an opt-out option and 2) I won't pay for something that may be an annoyance but certainly I can just ignore.

We already pay fees to conferences. Personal info continuing to be sold would encourage use of temporary emails or creation of dedicated junk email accounts. Similar to wedding industry.

Tip for gmail: add "+label" to your username to track where junk is coming from. Eg. Nospam@gmail.com - > nospam+conference@gmail.com
