Looking at the ending from my perch in the 21st century, I couldn’t see why they had to part! He would’ve seen in his eyes the same woman he loved regardless of her disease.
Turning back the clock though, an Indian man with a white woman? Were the roles reversed (and the reverse wasn’t unheard of back then) there would be no issue. But with them? It would automatically be assumed he kidnapped her, and when it was found she was with him by choice, he’d be hung and she’d be shot or trampled. Horrible times.
They could’ve gone back to England together though, he playing as a servant caring for a woman with a fatal illness.
Sad ending for, both left so empty inside.
Loved seeing the bit they rescued, all grown up.
Whip would definitely have been proud.

I loved everything about this serie except the hate. I wish there was more of the story to be told. There was so much love between Cornelia and sergeant whippi. I loved I t.

Emily Blunt is beyond spectacular! The series is outstanding! More Emily Blunt executive-produced films for Netflix please. The English really raised the bar.

I had to watch it over and over again. It was stunning, spellbinding and addictive. I could not watch the very end , that is episode 6, more than the once. It was too emotional an experience for me. I am grateful for having had the magnificent, yet painful, experience of this series. I would have enjoyed additional episodes, yet I recognize that it ended the only way it could. I'm also very grateful for being introduced to Chaske Spencer. I found his acting to be beyond formidable. Will look forward to much more of his work. Thank you for the chance to describe what an excellent series this is.

The ending made no sense. I don’t understand why she couldn’t go to Nebraska with him. So she has syphilis, so what? They love each other. They don’t have to have sex to have a relationship.

A truly great show, I couldn’t get enough. There was nothing to fault about the English. Great story, great acting, amazing script, phenomenal story and stunning cinematography. I do wish there was more to watch.
Thank you for making a great drama.

Simply spellbinding. Raw in storyline and emotion. I rarely watch blood and guts, this was an exception and its bitter sweetness has stayed with me. There just must be a sequel to this beautiful story. Eli and Cornelia, we will wait patiently

The scenery was awesome but some of the English actors were hard to understand so I missed some dialogue. Did I miss that Malmont raped her and was the father of her son and he gave her and her son syphilis. Sad that the Native Indians suffered at the hands of the white man.

I absolutely loved it! It was beautifully done! It’s been a long while since I’ve seen a show that hit me so hard emotionally. The music was so good also. I cried all through the Wailin Jenny’s song Long Time Traveler. Can’t wait for my friends to see it so I can talk to them about it!!

What a wonderful series! Great acting, beautiful vista's. My heart was broken in the finale! I'm still very emotional about it.

Absolutely wonderful and very powerful . This series should win an Oscar . Great actors great cinematography beautifully written . How I wish it could have ended better for both Eli and Cornelia .

  • Robert Rosenburgh - 2 years ago

A film that elicits a wide range of emotion, from love to hate and everything in between. An award winning film in my opinion.

  • Ray - 2 years ago

The English was above all beautifully filmed. The acting was excellent especially that of the two leads. I will enjoy watching this complex and emotional story again.

  • Patrick Dixon - 2 years ago

One of the best westerns (or any genre, to be honest) I’ve seen in a long time. Cinematography was stellar, script strong, and acting excellent. Loved everything about it.
