Staley and his 4th down BS needs to go. Get Payton in there while you still can. He's a proven winner if Telesco don't like it then get rid of him to. He keeps drafting a light defense. They're good against the pass but suck against the run and keep getting hurt. I like Ekceler but he's a scat back, you need a bell cow 5'11'' and 225 behind a good offensive line.
    Get rid of Staley

Need an offensive line that’s healthy to protect Herbert, because he took a beating against the Traitors. Our defense stopping the run is questionable and just staying healthy for the rest of the season will be a challenge?

    While I’m here.

This is nothing about the remaining schedule really. It’s about our problems. And we’ve got plenty.

I first bought my season tickets in 1969 when the Chargers moved into Jack Murphy Stadium. I even held onto them during my 3 years in the Army and while I was in Vietnam. I didn’t give them up until the year after my beloved Danny Fouts retired. I’ve been a strong Chargers fan since the very beginning. When the Spanos family sold us out and kidnapped our team to LA I thought I’d never follow football again. But then I reconsidered and decided to stick with the PLAYERS. Not the owners.

The Chargers MUST MUST do several things if they’re EVER going to improve.

First they’ve got to figure out what is causing this massive amount of annual injuries! Year in year out we are either leading the league in injuries or right in the running! What is causing this?!

Second. I hate to say this. I do. But we MUST MUST get a PROVEN winner of an NFL head coach! He must be given a free hand to bring in WHOEVER HE wants to bring in. No matter the cost. I would LOVE to see Mike Tomlin in here but he’ll never leave Pittsburgh. Never. Who then? Sean Payton? Agreed. But he’ll cost us a first round draft pick. At least. Is he worth that? IF we could make that first round pick our 2024 pick then jump at it. He must bring in offensive minds to take advantage of Herbert’s strengths. An offensive line coach who has PROVEN to produce great lines. Such as in Philadelphia. Defensive minds to actually put a terrific product on the field and can stop SOMEONE from being made to look like Jim Brown every week!

Thirdly. This team has a WOEFUL lack of team speed. Woeful! Our offense has NO ONE who can scare opponents. No one! In the next draft we MUST MUST draft speed! At every position. You can’t coach up speed. You either have it or you don’t. We don’t.

Just think of the Detroit Lions for a second. They drafted Alabama’s Jameson Williams, easily the fastest receiver in last year’s draft even KNOWING he’d probably miss this entire season due to a previous injury, with a very high first round pick! Now look at the Lions. They still don’t have Williams and their record is just 5-7. But. Their offense is already clicking along famously. But now, stick Williams in there to go along with Amon Ra St Brown and the rest. Next season the Lions will have the scariest offense in the league! Right up there with Miami!

Speaking of Miami. Look at what they’ve done with that offense. They have by FAR the fastest pair of receivers in the league, probably of all time! They added 2 of the very fasted running backs to go along with them. They’ve got a QB with at best a middle of the road arm.

Now. Just imagine for a second. Those 2 receivers, or Detroit’s 2 receivers of Amon Ra St Brown WITH Jameson Williams but WITH Justin Herbert as their QB. Do you see it? Possibly the very best arm in the NFL with 2 or 3 of the fastest receivers?? Magic.

We NEED to do these things. And quickly before it’s all lost. Before we lose the prime years of our core of great players such as Bosa, Mack, Lineley and James. Before we either can’t afford to keep them all or they lose their very best years. Besides. At the moment we’re also wasting Justin Herbert as well.

Unless we can get ALL of our injured players back in time. I’m talking about specifically our most important such as Slater, Bosa and Williams I don’t believe we can win more than one more game. No way we beat Miami or Tennessee. The Colts? They’ll run for 250 yards against this defense. Their defense is still pretty good as well. The Rams? The Chargers really got screwed over by the schedule makers with that one! It’s considered a home game game for us and a visiting game for the Rams. It’ll be a home game for the Rams! It’s still their city. The Rams caught a huge break by having this as an “away” game. By the 17th week Donald and the rest of the Rams injured will be back. They say their QB might even be back. If not they’ll still have enough to beat us. The final game with Denver? Their defense will hold us to about 13 points and even the Denver offense can score at least 14 points against our defense at this point. I think we’ll win either the Rams or Denver game. And that’s it. 7-10. And not a great draft position either. Mid teens. I’d prefer at this point to lose them all and have ZERO INJURIES! Most importantly. No injuries.

With Staley and Lombardi the poll should be whether Herbert will finish the season

Been a Charger fan since the John Hadle era.
To end the season at 9 8 is probably a stretch, but we can always hope for a miracle.
