Men still use the boys’ club mentality to exclude women from the conversation. Guys only trips and club nights contribute to this in a way that women have not emulated. I am lucky enough to work with some great men and women, but I def see this in other organizations and occasionally in mine.

I concur with B. As a slightly oblivious to flirtation, very friendly woman who looks 5-10 years younger than I am, I've gotten caught in that scenario too. It's really hard to just be nice and have men not think you're flirting with them.

It's like a battle between the "good ol' boys club" v. "ladies drink free." The unfortunate reality is that either way it's men who are controlling who gets "in."

I'm not saying there aren't advantages too, but I had to learn the hard way that if you're friendly, young, and slightly oblivious, some men may interpret your actions as an invitation to cheat on their wives. #NotAllMen and it can certainly go the other way and all that, but it's absolutely something I have to consciously be aware of and tone down.
