Lions are drafting Skoranski at 6. Doubling down on an already dominant O-line. Most value for pick. Fill in defensive needs with other picks.

Devon Witherspoon would be a stud. He is violent, just what the lions need at corner back. What a steal.
At 18 we need Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas another steal. And as was previously stated, can you imagine Robinson following Sewell!

Both of these players are just what the Lions need and could change their team drastically. I have used every manner of causing these two pics to make it to our squad, like crossing my fingers, twirling my hair, and soaking my fingers in hot water just to make this come true.

    At 6, Witherspoon.
At 18, if available.... Gonzales or Porter Jr.
    Round 2, D.line and linebacker.

    Dream scenario: Jalen Carter.
    Most likely pick: Devon Witherspoon.
    Fall back position: Christian Gonzalez.
    Dark horse: Broderick Jones.

If Stroud drops to #6, the Lions should be prepared to draft him. Unless Holmes can coerce the Panthers or Seahawks to offer a 2nd round pick this year, and, a future 1st round pick, to move down? Lions have the #18 pick that they can use to upgrade the defense. Holmes could even use one of those 2nd round pick in order to move up from #18?

None of the above in this scenario the Lions should Certainly trade down!!!

  • Scott - 1 year ago

Trust in Brad Holmes. Dude has been an excellent drafter. He will get it right.

  • Aaron Crumbaugh - 1 year ago

It’s going to be a trade. Period. End of sentence.

  • Grant - 1 year ago

Trade back with Carolina. Pick up Richardson from the gators at 9. Sit him behind Goff for a year.

  • Nick - 1 year ago

Trade back if there’s a trade partner and Carter is gone. If no trade is available reach on Witherspoon.

Trade down. At least one team below the Lions in the top 9 want a QB and should be willing to trade up to get him. Carolina at #9 is as low as I would go with a trade-down, unless a blockbuster draft haul is offered for a lower pick. At #9 Witherspoon and Bijan Robinson are each likely to be available. The Lions should choose one of those two.

If Stroud is there , you take Carolinas 9th and 3rd and next years 1st and move back. Witherspoon and breesee will be there still, if not you still have van Ness or Christian gonzo. No matter what a qb being there will be a gift. ( seattle will have already exploited this opportunity unfortunately)

Best case scenario is that there are 2 QB's on the board at 6 and Atlanta or Carolina is willing to jump up to get their guy - But this trade NEEDS to include a 2024 1st so that the Lions have the ability to move up next year and grab our QB of the future (in front of a hometown crowd no less) - WIlliams, Maye, Ewers all could be top end. Plus trading back 2-3 spots should still net us Tyree Wilson, Bresee, or Murphy. Plenty of DB's so take a shot at one of them there....

Jalen Carter, Will Anderson or trade down if both unavailable!

  • Jason maki - 1 year ago

For me it depends on situation. Say bears trade down to 4 with colts and Arizona takes will Anderson. In that case I like trading up to 4 with bears to take Jalen Carter being a major need for us. If that's not an option but will Levi's is still on board I like trading down to 8 or 9 with falcons or Panthers if they want to jump the raiders then taking Breese(same position as Carter) at better value and picking up another second or third rounder this being such a deep class at certain positions. Picking up an extra 2nd or 3rd pick would allow us a bonus pick to take a QB, even if Goff is our guy we need a reliable back up and future starter and it seems ideal having a guy like Tanner or Herndon or Jake to sit n learn for a year or two and see what they have. If the lions were to stay at 6 I like witherspoon even tho it seems a bit high for him

It would be nice to have 3 second round pics. So I would say trade down. Maybe later in the draft take chance with Tanner McKee and also draft Jake Moody. No Weatherspoon.

    Anthony Richardson!

    Noah sewell

    Joey Porter Jr CB

I'm good with trade down but not far. In this Scenario if the Panthers want to move up from 9 to 6 to get CJ Stroud, I make the trade. They'd still get the quality player two pots later, and maybe the same player they targeted. But remember at some point you need to take quality over quantity. It does not do any good to draft a lot of players, and they get snatched up before you can even get them on the practice squad. Or if you do get to stash them on the practice squad, somebody can pouch them. Until you get into Cap problems, it is quality over quanity, but moving from 6 to 9 may get you both, and another asset that allows you to move up later.

  • Mooreski - 1 year ago

Either of Gonzalez or Witherspoon work for me

  • Michael Schild - 1 year ago

I would also trade our pick for more picks. Lets build this team to the hilt...

  • Steve Slabbekoorn - 1 year ago

I agree with Jason. If the Lions can negotiate a trade with the Raiders or Panthers and gain another draft pick, I think most of the players listed will still be available. If I have to pick one of the players listed, I'd go with either of the corner backs. Followed by the other corner back. Their defensive secondary really needs help.

  • Jeff king - 1 year ago

Trade down if possible. If a top QB falls to you, teams may be looking to jump up. Let someone overpay for a guy and gain a few picks in the process. If you have to pick though, take Breese the DT from Clemson. That fills probably our biggest hole.

  • Jason Poitras - 1 year ago

I would prefer a trade down at 6. Your comments about how this draft is setting up(paraphrasing) have had me thinking. The QB market this year really sets up with Raiders at 7 and Panthers at 9 in need to make a move. Is there an easier way to build for the future then acquiring an extra top 100 pick or 2 ?
