I chose loup city for several reasons. They aren't original because the same mascot has been used for other highschools, with slight changes. The picture to me just looks like an attempt at a racist joke as well.

First of all: What would Custer do? He probably would have ran in like an idiot without analyzing the situation and got a lot of his followers killed. The same can be said about some of the latter posts on this site (looking like idiots). You guys are making yourselves look bad. Second of all: If their is such a porblem with the mascots, call up the administrations of the schools or go to the dept. of ed. Maybe the schools should change on their own but change comes hard if pride has been instilled. I am sure all these schools are proud of their mascots.

Tuesday/Thursday NAMS 1-2:15, I think the Loup City mascot is degrading to all Native Americans. The mascot just looks like something you would find in a cartoon helping elmer fud hunt down bugs bunny. It doesn't look realistic at all.

In my opinion there is nothing offensive about the Loup City mascot. Loup City people take pride in who they are. If they portrayed it in a hostile way then it would be a different story but... THEY DONT. " What would Custer do?"

I'm from loup city high school and about 2 years ago we had a native american come to our school and shared with us his stories and wisdom and he wasn't at all offended.
You guys are all fagets the loup city mascot isn't offensive at all the weapons are for hunting buffalo not violence and he looks pissed because the buffalo all ran away.

Loup City's macot isn't racist at all, it's all the rest that are racist.
I think anybody who thinks that any indian mascots are offensive are idiots. Because the schools that have the mascots are taking pride in their school and their mascot.

The Loup City mascot appears to be the most offensive because it is the most caricatured of the five Native American mascots. I picked the Loup City mascot for that very reason and because it is only the one portraying weapons.

I find the Crofton mascot to be the worst. I don't see how people can take the Loup City one seriously, and I'm sure that it will be on its way out soon, but it is also a cartoon/caricature, whereas Crofton's mascot is not a cartoon. Crofton’s mascot probably has enough "realism" to many people, which will ultimately perpetuate the stereotypes, subsequently keeping these more "respectful" mascots going strong.

I thought the Crofton mascot was the most racist/disturbing because its look reinforces the stereotype that indians are evil and violent. I think this is done both on a conscious and subconscious level. While I do not know if that was Croftons intent, I think they should look at changing it's mascot because of that fact.
