I think it was a smart move. Getting a Veteran in there who isn't a head case to help guide the young receiving corp could prove to be a blessing. While there were younger options i think this will also help Kenny Picket.

    I would rather have Claypool!!

good trade value, has the upside as we've known with him being an ex-pro-bowler, slowed down in production over the past two years. Only having to pay 5 mil and also getting a 7th round back is a good trade position for us. We get that slot WR3 and still hold a later round draft pick

I kinda agree with Scott’s point of view. Robinson is past his prime and the past two seasons have been a major drop in production. But a veteran who isn’t a head case hopefully can work with the younger recievers and help keep Pickens’ head on straight. With Diontae and George being 1 and 2, Robinson will see tons of one on one where he can use his smarts to get open and make plays. Swapping 7th round picks is a no brainer.

No info on who they traded or if it was a draft pick.

I'm OK with the Allen Robinson trade, but I would have preferred the Steelers to have gone with either UFA WRs Jarvis Landry (a true veteran slot receiver) or Olamide Zaccheaus an up and coming receiver whose only 25. Both would have been cheaper, probably in the $3-$3.5M range and wouldn't have required any trading down in the 7th round. The Steelers should be looking for opportunities to obtain draft capital, especially in the 5th and/or 6th round.
