This pick was a calculated and educated approach to the Atlanta Falcons need (at the RB position), now and for the future for Author Smith's system. Bijan can be used right away while also fulfilling future needs at this position. Excellent choice! Not a wasted #8 1st round pick.

How could you defend this offense, mismatches everywhere great pick

So Terry Fotenot and Arthur Smith pass on jalen Carter for the Texas running back Bijon Robinson. I cant fault this pick and it makes sense. First the ”cons”: the Falcons still dont have a “home grown” pass rusher; the team already has a pretty good running back committee; a lot of defenders over 30; no pedigree at quarterback; and Im sure there are lots of holes in what has been a thin roster for the last 3 years. But here is my 2cw for the ”pros”: worst case if the train wrecks next year instead of picking 8 next year they will draft a qb in what is projected as a better year for qbs; albeit under a new hc. But what makes the most sense is it keeps the Falcons out of future cap jail with the current market devaluation at the running back position. No defense can long hold down any opponent if the offense cant stay on the field and score points. If the Robinson pick is good it will give Atlanta options to trade some of their rb depth or not overwork any of their rbs by rotating their talented players at that position. With the extra cap space, the Falcons can always do the 1 yr rent-a-vet for the DL.
