1971 Chiefs would have won the Super Bowl over Dallas

Have to go with 2021. After the SB lose the year before, injuries, and doubters, Mahomes had his worse playoff game vs. Bengals. Just dumb plays. Only time i was ever mad @ PM. Chiefs killing it and not taking the 3 points at end of half. They did not show up 2nd half. There would be no Burrowhead and other none-sense. They beat Rams IMO. Only thing is, do Chiefs have that same fire in 2022 vs. Bengals as well. My wish for Mahomes career is for 5-6 SBs and getting a back-to-back ships.

I am surprised the 2003 divisional wasn't included, but I see that they were really just talking AFC Championship and Superbowl. We have had so many painful playoff losses.
I can't believe the loss to Miami in 1971 wasn't an option.

The roughing the passer call on Chris Jones ( Not ) Tom Brady needed the refs to get bailed out.... Then Dee Ford lining up off sides to seal our fate ???? ???? ???? ????

Hall of Fame kicker Jan Stenarud missed a field goal in regulation and overtime that would have won the game. He also had a field goal blocked. Not his best day. That was the best Chiefs team to that point. Eight hall of famers on the field that day. They never rebounded from that loss.

T he e most painful play-off loss in Chiefs’ history is none of these. The author of this article is either of tender years or is not up in his Chiefs’ history. The no doubt about it most painful playoff loss was the AFC Championship game between the Chiefs and Dolphins, which was played on Christmas Day of 1971. The game went into overtime and went the longest of any NFL game in history, 82 minutes and 40 seconds. As I recall, Stenerud missed what would have been a game winning field goal for the Chiefs before Miami kicked the winning fg to win by 3. CBS calls it the greatest Christmas Day game ever played. Losing that game was the last hurrah of those great Stram teams of the 60’s and early 70’s, and Chiefs fans mourned the loss for a generation. You need to redo your poll including this game. Of course, those too young to remember the game will not know about the game and probably wouldn’t vote for it, but it hurt worse than the loss to the Bengals.

Gonna go with 2021. 93 hurts because of the players who absolutely deserved a win but that wasnt the best team of the 3 so not sure its the biggest missed opportunity. 2018 seems like the easiest choice considering they were 3 inches from winning the game and likely could have won the Super Bowl, but I believe that team needed that kick in the mouth to get them in the right mindset to get over the hump. So 2021 because it'd be 4 straight SBs and counting, would do away with the Burrow hype nonsense, and I firmly believe they would have destroyed the Rams despite the NFLs clear intentions
