Great list, especially considering that the fans voted. I missed #’s 50–45, but I didn’t see anything by Slaughter (the “host”), Europe, Y&T, Britny Fox, Tygers of Pan Tang, Twisted Sister, Kingdom Come, Stryper, Tora Tora, Steelheart, Hurricane, Dangerous Toys, Aldo Nova, Krokus, Mr. Big, Extreme, W.A.S.P., Warlock, Dio, TNT, Loudness, Lita Ford, XYZ, Helix, Junkyard, and Queenryche (again I missed #50-45).

Great countdown where can I get a copy of the list of the songs?

  • Lou Schiller - 1 year ago

Sad, the people that made this list is clueless, they know little about music..

  • Bobham2112 - 1 year ago

For the love of Money BulletBoys

  • Tammy Robinson - 1 year ago

No Slaughter? I’m surprised Mark isn’t offended by this. Missing Queensryche and what about Winger's Headed for A Heartbreak?

  • Eric Phillips - 1 year ago

Keep on rocking but yes should probably expand the list!!!! Love HAIR NATION!!!!!

  • S - 1 year ago

I rarely have ever met a Hair Nation listener that didn't say they need to expand the bands and the playlist. You need to understand this is a PAID service, meaning the listener wants more bang for their buck. There are so many hair bands that NEVER got any song played on the station and way too many songs repeated. There is zero reason why deep cuts and bands can't be mixed in to. Let me list some:

    Shotgun Messiah
    Lillian Axe
    Axe
    Doro Pesch
Warlock-All We Are is all we ever hear
    Shark Island
    MSG
    Kik Tracee
    Killer Dwarfs
    Phantom Blue
    Chrissy Steele
    Saraya
    Lee Aaron
    Kingdom Come
    Helix
    Baton Rogue
    Tora Tora
    Every Mother's Nightmare
    Roxy Blue

The list goes on and on! And then more variety with bands you regularly play too. Don't play the same few songs, open that playlist up too

  • Kari R - 1 year ago

I agree. Please expand the Playlist and include new song from the bands that you play

  • Jay! - 1 year ago

Been listening to the '80's Rock' Channel on DirecTV's Music Choice recently. Sure you get a lot of Aerosmith and more 'classic' rock (Billy Idol, Vinnie Vincent Invasion!), but they play Stryper & W.A.S.P. too. I agree with many of the other comments: EXPAND YOUR PLAYLIST!

    Thx,

    Jay!

  • blackuni1986 - 1 year ago

Agree with the why no Queensryche -- Also need more RATT !!!!! \m/

  • Court - 1 year ago

This lust of options is WAY too short. If there are only 100 songs to choose from then they should represent 100 different bands. I love Crue Nd Def Leppard but the scene was so much more than that. Mark Slaughter is doing the countdown but not a single Slaughter song is listed..? Sorry but this ballot is tremendously disappointing (and for the record I am NOT a Stryper fan). ????

  • David Meadows - 1 year ago

Please start playing a wider variety! Same stuff constantly…. Van Halen please!!!!!!!!! Some older VH is played on Boneyard but no Sammy????????? you guys can do better with variety ????

Hate to be pigeon holed into that list. Should be all write in if can't list more than 10 - 12 artist. At least that what it felt like. Love the channel!! Thanks

  • Allan G - 1 year ago

Sebastian Bach is on the list, that’s enough for me

  • Sheigh - 1 year ago

Would be nice for one of these top ### shows not to be all about already in rotation songs, maybe use the deepcuts list instead? Missing Queensryche, Ozzy, Warlock and loads more from this era. Even Stryper even if my opinion does not have them as big as comments here imply.

  • Jade - 1 year ago

Several thoughts if anyone from the station is actually reading the comments. I think the biggest thing is whether you read it on Facebook, websites, etc is listeners want a bigger variety of bands and songs. As has been stated, all of these songs are stuff played in regular rotation all the time. No reason to have a countdown because you are going to hear them a million times anyway.

Here is some stuff needs to be played as well:
    Wildside
    Tora Tora-Not just Walkin' Shoes
Every Mother's Nightmare-some of their heavier stuff
    Roxy Blue
W.A.S.P.-Plenty from their hair band area you could play
    Dirty Looks
Alice Cooper-More than just Poison, Feed My Frankenstein and Hey Stoopid
    D.A.D.
    Tangier
Michael Monroe-Dead, Jail or Rock n Roll or Man With No Eyes would work on Hair Nation
    Lee Aaron
    Warlock-Fight for Rock/Doro-Hard Times
    Killer Dwarfs
    Saraya
    Cats n Boots
    Leatherwolf
    Saga
    Helix-Several songs
    Thunder

  • Su - 1 year ago

The list are songs that are played every day anyway! Come on now! How about a bigger variety of songs played? All this is, is yet another way to play the exact same playlist. I would contend Hair Nation would have even higher ratings if they actually switched songs up more and added some more artist and a few more deep cuts to the regular channel? If you are playing say 12 songs an hour, you can play 7 or 8 big hits, big bands, and a couple of deep cuts by well-known bands and then throw in 1 or 2 more obscure bands every hour.

  • Vince Christ - 1 year ago

Should be 1 group, 1 song. Queesryche is a MUST on anyone top 50 list, and I agree, Stryper also.

  • Bull - 1 year ago

How many times can the same person change email then complain about Stryper???

  • Sherene - 1 year ago

    No Danger Danger

  • Sammy - 1 year ago

A lot of Stryper fans here! Or maybe the same person with multiple accounts? Anyhow, it is true that Stryper should be on the list. Too many songs of the same groups, there were great hair bands in the 80's!

  • KL - 1 year ago

Should be more than one Alice Cooper sing. Speaking of Alice, why did you never play House of Fire and Love's A Loaded Gun.

  • Chuck - 1 year ago

Stryper hits Free, Honestly, Calling on You…would be great to see here!

  • Josh McDonald - 1 year ago

Why is Stryper not on here? Not only one of the best bands of the 1980's, but are continuing to put out stellar albums. ????

  • Klarin Fausett - 1 year ago

REALLY? We have to write in Stryper? Just like we had to call in to MTV to request them... we will write them in to request here!! We know why they are overlooked...
And we won't stand for it!!! Get with it!! Fed up with secular bs!!

  • Klarin Fausett - 1 year ago

  • Doug - 1 year ago

Yep, as usual, NO STRYPER! Stryper was huge in the 80’s (still rockin it today) and Hair Nation NEVER plays them or gives them any creds. Eddy Trunk is the only one I’ve ever heard on Hair Nation give out huge respect. Come on Hair Nation, stop being so biased!

  • Brett - 1 year ago

Some great songs on here, amd then some head scratchers. But come on guys... not ONE Stryper song listed? Something wrong with this picture.

  • Linda - 1 year ago

You’re missing Stryper!! Calling On You, Free & Honestly were all in Dial MTV top 10 at once!

  • Rob - 1 year ago

Stryper deserves to be on this list. Or Are they excluded because they're Christian?
First band to have three #1 songs on Dial MTV.

  • jerry p - 1 year ago

some good songs there, some bands missing. this is nothing more than ones personal list. leaving out stryper?really?40 yrs and still going strong!!!

  • CVP - 1 year ago

Ummmm, your missing Stryper, calling on you, free, honestly all #1’s in the 80’s, how is this a hair metal list with out those

  • Ron botelho - 1 year ago

    Where is Stryper??

Calling on you, free, honestly, always there for you.

    All #1

  • Eric - 1 year ago

What about Brittany Fox,Europe,White Lion they had some pretty big hair,I didn't see them on the top 50 list,if they were I didn't see them, but it was fun going back in time to the good old days

  • Shannon - 1 year ago

Where’s Stryper on this list? Definitely should be on it!

  • Fed - 1 year ago

    STRYPER????

  • Troy Tennard - 1 year ago

    Where are the Stryper songs!!!!

  • David - 1 year ago

What happened to Stryper? You can't leave out the best . What kind of list is that? Come on everyone write in free

  • Tommy Ogle - 1 year ago

I can't believe Stryper isn't on this list, but many other bands have multiple songs. Get with it! Stryper had 3 #1's!!!!!

    Stryper - Calling On You
    Stryper - Free
    Stryper - Honestly

  • Egwy604 - 1 year ago

    Where Stryper and W.A.S.P

  • Henry Rutledge - 1 year ago

Where is Stryper’s “Calling On You”? They were #1 on the MTV video charts in the 80s.

  • Mike - 1 year ago

Where’s the love for the Stryper boys? This list is about best 80s hair, right? I’m a huge Scorpions fan but, come on, you’re gonna put up Klaus Meine over Michael Sweet?! Respect the effort, folks.

  • Mark - 1 year ago

Where is Stryper? They dominated the late 80's charts.

  • Michael - 1 year ago

How is Stryper absent from this list?

  • Ged West - 1 year ago

A 80’s hair metal list and Stryper, (arguably the biggest of the 80’s) is nowhere to be found. Wow! Psst… Your bias is showing. :(

  • Timothy - 1 year ago

Total BS Stryper is not on that list....BOOOOO!

  • Gary - 1 year ago

Stryper needs on this list for Honestly, Always there for you, To Hell with the devil. They are a great band with amazing songs right up there with so many of the bands listed and in some cases passing some of the bands for the top spot for #1 aong

  • Billy Wood - 1 year ago

Stryper was platinum selling, most dialed on dial MTV, only band to have three back to back number ones on dial MTV, and one of only a scant few to still be chugging out sonic and quality metal to this day. They are also great musicians. Any list that leaves them out but includes less popular and lesser quality metal is simply biased and invalid.

  • Luke - 1 year ago

Missed a lot of iconic songs! Namely Stryper - To He’ll With The Devil”

  • Evans - 1 year ago

STRYPER NEEDS TO BE ON THIS LIST!!!!

  • Dave - 1 year ago

Ever hear of Stryper? Pretty cool metal band—shredders.

  • Steve - 1 year ago

If Stryper is missing from the list, the rest of it is invalid.

  • Dana Bailey - 1 year ago

Stryper should definitely be on here! Write it in everyone!!

  • Nicki - 1 year ago

I thought this was a hair competition. What's with the songs? Stryper should be on here!!

  • Mike - 1 year ago

Stryper is MIA? Who made this list?!?

  • Rob - 1 year ago

How is Stryper not on this list !?!?

  • Chris Tucker - 1 year ago

How are there no Queesryche songs on the list??? LOL
