So Oracle will continue to milk the business as long as the VA and DOD are paying the millions/billions for maintaining and supporting Millennium. As far as Ellison knowing what he is doing, he bought Cerner more out of ego because Neil and the original leadership team wouldn't sell it to him. I agree with Bill that David is the true salesman here milking Oracle so he can buy another swanky pad in LA or NY and line his pockets. And yes Epic will owe the EHR market in North America and interestingly they did it without ever buying a competitor or bundling third party solutions in their core solution all while winning a $940 intellectual property case against Tata Consultancy Services Ltd

I think it will be sold but not in 5 yrs, probably 7 to max 10 because they will milk it for the recurring revenue till it earns back most of the investment. Larry can be pretty stubborn and look how long it took Siemens to realize it blew it. Hospital clients don't jump ship till they have no other option, it's no fun to change out a mission critical system, and this plays into the 'milk it' strategy. Unfortunately it will be a slooooow grind for the client base.

Oracle will reset the Cerner / Oracle Health platform, Ellison knows what he is doing.

    It will be interesting:
    - to see who gets blamed for the poor acquisition evaluation and decision
    - to see how long David Feinberg is there, and how many more millions he gets out of them
    - to see how large Epic’s market share becomes before the Feds start wringing their hands
