Arrow for me. Thatch has been getting some hate but it still slaps.

I remember looking at all the matchups before the voting and I knew this would be my toughest choice. I love the work Peter does on Arrow, but this Thatch is just downright filthy. I just love Thatch jams so much, which is why I went with that. Sucks that one of these two goes up against Philly Echo next round

Thatch will win this because SPAC, but I'm voting Arrow. I think this Thatch is a good early example of a jammed out Thatch. To me, though, it is the 4th-best Thatch of the year at best, behind at least Bonner 9/22, Boston 9/14, and Scamp 5/26. (I'd argue that London, Manchester, and LA were all better as well.) But while Boston was a 14-seed and Scamp didn't make the bracket at all, this Thatch is a 7-seed? Hmm. It's a good jam, but not *that* good.
This Arrow, on the other hand, is something else. I'm not sure I've heard a Goose synth jam that sounds like it. Sometimes, when the band experiments with new sounds, it falls flat. Other times, as was the case with this Arrow, it sounds awesome. It takes real communication and connectivity to put together a jam that sounds different than everything else in your catalogue while staying cohesive and entertaining. But this Arrow pulls it off.

Arrow was played a lot this year, but there's something special about this one. It stands out from the few in the bracket, as well as a few great ones I saw this year (Detroit and Cleveland, in addition to this one in Nashville). Everything about the SPAC show was amazing, but I think this Arrow is more special (when compared to other Arrows,) than the Thatch is... when compared to other versions of Thatch this year. Arrow for the upset!

Arrow is great but this Thatch is arguably better than Bonner when you break down the segments

Arrow for the upset here. Thatch was also great, but that Arrow was way too cool to be a 10 seed, let alone a first round out.

Arrow = JOTY. One of the most unique jams they've done. I'd write more, but ya know, WORK.

Damn this being a 7 vs 10 is a indication of how many great performances there were this year.
I liked both a lot and I feel guilty for not voting for the Thatch... but it find the Arrow more unique.

I have these two super close at a 7/8 split but ranked in reverse preference, with Ryman Arrow at #27 overall and SPAC Thatch at #31 overall.
Interestingly, this is also my #2 Arrow of the year up against my #2 Thatch of the year. And these are both the versions that broke the mold, so to speak, flipping jam form expectations on their head and elevating future versions of each song.
Wouldn't be shocked to see this one spin either way but I love what Peter does with the synths on this Arrow and also the aggressive little bonus breakdown at the end. I also love the wild ride of a funky next-level Thatch jam with tasteful synth washes sprinkled in. My vote goes to Arrow--which I love just a little bit more--but it's not an easy choice!
