Are y’all made at Alain Resnais? He makes two incredible and very different films and they both immediately run up on titans of their craft! I would love to give Hiroshima Mon Amour more consideration here, but Orson Welles does incredible work in front of and behind the camera in Touch of Evil and I’m not ready to give up on the beginning crane shot or the ending “He was some kind of man.”

Horribly unlucky draw for Hiroshima Mon Amour.

This is gonna be the closest matchup of the first round! I adore both of these movies!! This should’ve been an elite eight or final four matchup!

I watched Hiroshima Mon Amour in preparation for this tournament and it might be one of the most beautiful movies about trauma (political and personal) ever made
