There's nothing wrong with Ben-Hur. I've only seen it in 70mm, and it's immersive, properly spectacular, and never emotely dull.
But I mean... it's GONE.

Vertigo is twist within twist within twist of shades of moral ambiguity. Ben-Hur is 10 hours long and rendered completely redundent by The Life of Brian. I rest my case.

A Man Escaped lost to fecking Ben-Hur?! Call this tournament off right now, it's officially lost all credibility.

Not a Ben Hur fan. Vertigo kind of goes over my head a little, but it’s still a masterpiece. Easy decision.

This is a curious one for me. These are two films that have incredibly strong critical consensus.
And I don't really care for either of them. Ben-Hur has a great chariot sequence -- and several sequences that had me chuckling when I'm sure that wasn't the inteded reaction. Vertigo is just plain weird.
Weird wins it. Vertigo is the only film I'll probably sit down to watch at some point again. For the fourth time.
