Each list has a clunker for me: Fight Club, Princess Mononoke, Phantom Menace, American Beauty. This was almost the first ever FS poll where I've actually seen all of them, but I have not seen American Movie yet so it's possible I should have voted for Adam. I'm giving Jake the win for keeping a cool head under pressure and because Election was the best movie about a teacher until last year's The Teachers' Lounge. I'm glad someone named Topsy-Turvy as a honorable mention. I would've drafted it.
PS I shouldn't even say this, but... Josh, you were running away with this until your last pick. "Eyes Wide Shut" and "All About My Mother" are great, and i still need to see "The Blair Witch Project"!
I always look at drafts as if they are film festival lineups. Which group of films would i most like to watch over the course of a day and a half?
This is actually pretty easy.
I'm on the outside when it comes to "Fight Club", i'll pass. And i would only need to see "Phantom Menace" as part of a Star Wars marathon ... with the remote in my hand. Sorry Adam and Josh...
And i'm more interested in Sam's selections than Jake's. I haven't seen "Magnolia" since it was in theatres, and i remember it blowing my mind. I've gotta see it again! And i never did see "American Beauty", and i kinda thought we weren't allowed to like it anymore, so i'm glad to see it featured at a film festival! Thanks Sam!

I went through the exercise of choosing my favorite of the four choices for each category and chose Adam's choices twice, Jake's choices twice, Sam's choice once, and never Josh's choices (sorry). But I still chose Sam overall (for example, while I like Election more than Office Space, I only like it slightly more).
The drafts are always fun bonus episodes!

some great choices but I would have picked Patrice Leconte’s La Fille sur le Pont

Looking at my favorite movies of the 90’s list. Adam had 2. Jake 1. Sam 2. Josh 3. So even though Josh made the worst pick (Phantom Menace). I will still vote for him. I mean he also made the best pick (All About My Mother).

These lists are ridiculous. Every one of them has 1-2 movies I love and 1-2 movies I haven't seen or actively dislike. Because my first two picks would have been The Blair Witch Project and Eyes Wide Shut, I'm voting for Josh.

Adam’s “bro trinity” (no pun intended) is tough to top, but it’s the inclusion of Three Kings that sealed it. Great pick.

Jake followed his conscience.

If Josh wants an assistant GM to provide counsel (he doesn’t); just put Blair Witch as blockbuster and Iron Giant as genre. Then, he would at least finish a respectable second!

The Talented Mr. Ripley would like a word with you gentlemen. Otherwise, great job!

One of the best horror movies of all time?
Possibly the best film from possibly a nation’s best auteur?
Man, I wanted to vote for Josh. But then he chose Phantom Menace.
Yeah, Adam won this, hands down. Sure these are “bro” movies and you always have to side-eye someone who says these films are their favorites of all time, but does that diminish their quality at all? Not in the slightest. And the American Movie pull at the end was just *chefs kiss*

Great episode! There’s only one film high on my personal 1999 list that didn’t get any kind of mention, so I’ll give it a shout out here: Boys Don’t Cry
