My favorite is Hop on Pop by a long shot, my poor Dad though he had it memorized because my sister and I loved it so much. Twins hopping on you must hurt, I am sorry now that we did that to him.

Go Dog Go is by PD Eastman. It is the best. It comes in the same series of books as dr. seuss by a publisher so they do look the same. Wikipedia says that Seuss inspired Eastman.

Its is by far the greatest Suess book of all is Fox in Socks and if you think any differently we shall have to battle in a puddle in a bottle and the bottles on a poodle and the poodles eating noodles

I love all Dr.Seuss books but i had to go with Green Eggs and Ham. I mean the famous line... " I do not like Green Eggs and Ham, I do not like them Sam I am" ....this was a hard choice

"The Butter Battle Book" is by far the best. It teaches such important lessons while being so funny

how did you get so popular?

The honest truth, for me at least, is there are to many jewels among the writings of this author. Theodore Seuss Geisel shaped the imaginations in children since h penned his first non-prose book "If I Ran the Zoo." My list of favorites range from silly to political but never-the-less, just about all of his 60-plus children's books will remain locked within my heart and mind. Dr. Seuss' birthday will be celebrated for many more years to come and I can't wait to go home today and read some to my two year old niece out of her collection that could rival mine. God Bless, Seuss. You are an icon.

Definitely Green Eggs and Ham... it's the one I remember most fondly since Kindergarten, plus I read it to my son when he was just a baby over 30 years ago.

My vote is for "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!" Though "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" is great as well: "from there to here and here to there, funny things are everywhere"!

My favorite is Fox in Socks!

green eggs and ham is my favourite that i have read because its unusual and different to other books that authers have done for younger children or even adults. green eggs and ham is like a tongue twister when going through each page especially when trying to read it alot faster.

There are so many favourites that it is hard to pin point just one. I read "Mr. Brown can Moo! Can you?" to my son and that is his favourite right now.

I also love The Grinch, it is a Christmas tradition.

Just a note to those above, Go dog Go was written by P.D Eastman, but a really good book too.

  • Josh - 15 years ago

You can't forget How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I think that's better than Green Eggs and Ham, even though it's a great story as well.

    Dr seuss you rock!

  • Judith Fenley - 15 years ago

Of all the many favorites, I claim THE LORAX, my most faved of all. He is his political and humorous best. It is a classic and an important one for us all from kindergarten to college classes. There is a visceral understanding of the ecological crisis communicated, yet instills hope and the prodding of our creative best. Blessings and gratitude to Dr Suess!

I remember reading Green Eggs and Ham in Kindergarten and then making green eggs and ham in class after we finished the book. Good times...

  • Alex - 15 years ago

As said before, you should add in "Oh, The Places You'll Go." I've had it read to be at all the biggest stages of my life and before moving to college I bought the book finally and now I read it from time to time. I love Dr. Suess' creations and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dr. Suess!

Hello.... you should add in, "Oh the Places You'll Go!" Once of the best books ever to give to anyone going through transition... a child graduating from Jr. High and moving into High School. A high school or college graduate. Moving to a new place or job. Excellent and encouraging tale of the journey along Life's roads...

    Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Oh man that is a hard one. But I had to give my vote to "One Fish Two Fish." But I do feel a little bad for "Hop on Pop."

    These stories shaped my childhood.
