As a patient, I'm struggling with a private practice that acts like they're "doing all the things" with the patient portal but I still have yet to see a visit note or a copy of my pathology. I do however get three continuity of care documents per visit that add nothing to my understanding as a patient. My physician told me to not bother using the online scheduling because "it's messed up half the time but the vendor never fixes is." Patient education is provided through photocopied handouts that they provide at the checkout desk, which are general health topics not necessarily related to your visit.

I am a huge fan and proponent of technology in our healthcare facilities (doctors offices, DDS, Pharmacies, etc.). It saddens me that in 2024 we are still ‘not there yet’. But I remain hopeful!

With regard to: "Messaging or emailing a clinician provider". I've tried this in the past and I find that messages go into write-only-storage, never to be heard from again. For me, a phone call always renders a good response (even if the call back takes 24 hours).
