Although I see that there is definitely more fun in taking the bus to Kansas City, I'd go for Dallas by plane.
After all, the goal is to be opposite of Newcastle within 30 days, i.e. 4 weeks more or less. And unless you don't get offered a flight from the US to Australia or so, I see the last bits of the journey being more time-consuming.
I agree with @wordtravelsfast! KC will show you a good time!

Can't believe you would consider flying at all. Not much of a challenge and so much less interesting.

While Dallas is a great place, I think for your goal on this trip, combined with the need for WiFi, I vote Kansas City. we'll have to rally the KC twitter users to move you on.
plus, you're at £ 2,556.41 for Charity:Water and we need to get more donations in there to reach the £3,000.00 goal!!

c'mon twitter, let's make it happen!!
Magic Mega Bus! Go for it. Follow the Yellow Brick Road .....
Texas is the place to be but you will see so much more by Megabus!
Go to KC first...then to Dallas!
You'll find much more options from Dallas than from Kansas City. Think on the "after tomorrow", not just on tomorrow.
Kansas city by bus, without a doubt. The refuge of the roads and middle America in all its glory...
Head to Dallas! Chris is a jolly nice bloke (as you well know), and Dallas is a great city!
Take the greener option everytime..... Save the planet!
