I sincerely believe that Diana had become an embarrassment to the Royals, garnering too much attention, to the U.K. government with her outspoken criticism of landmines, but the intention was not to kill her, simply to severely disfigure her, so that she shunned the limelight. When that did not happen she was merely "allowed" to die or other measures were taken to ensure that she did..! R.I.P. "The People's Princess"....
