Gartner has claimed AI exists in both the Trough and it is also on the Slope at the same time. AI is such a broad term that encompasses many different technologies with highly varied use cases and deployments. Their assertion makes sense to me. Some of the types of the technology and their applications could also be at the Peak and Plateau. I think of GE’s MUSE EKG AI that has existed since the 90s as rather plateaued.
