The vast majority of western Canada is staunchly conservative but even many people in Eastern Canada where the Liberals are popular are feeling the results of their failed policies. The polls show this. In Canada we have a redistribution of wealth called transfer payments where the three western provinces who according to the formula give billions of dollars to the eastern provinces each year. Most of this money comes from selling natural resources like oil the western provinces are abundant in. On a side note if Trump was really serious about appealing to Canada to join the U.S. it would have to be divided into two states at minimum. The mainly English speaking conservative western provinces are tired of having little say in the Canadian federal government and are mostly just used by the eastern French speaking liberal provinces for these transfer payments. The elected seats in the federal government are based on population so the large cities in the two eastern provinces of Ontario and Quebec which have the largest populations really decide which federal party rules all of Canada and the federal govt in Canada has much more power over the provinces than the U.S. federal govt has over the states.
