Do you think there's enough room in a deck to split focus between something like vehicles and Kindred?

Only for the stuff that's really made to do both, like Pirates and Pilots.

Honestly, even for the stuff that's made for it, you'd be better off focusing on either vehicles or kindred.

Eh, people worry too much. You could absolutely do both, no matter what creature type you went with.
