pretty distraught that THE jam I've kept coming back to since it was born was bounced first round. I'm also quite high on this Hungersite... And by song-title & show-notoriety, I get it. I was scared when I saw this in the bracket. But this is the best EorA I've ever heard and I simply will not accept that it's not a top 32 jam of the year.

@ Kennett Marshall had it right

  • phimius - 1 year ago

Definitely think Iowa jam wins out

  • mugkeyftlt - 1 year ago

This Hungersite is good. Above average jam, but it is entirely possible I never listen to it again.
I am shocked that this EoA is down by a ratio of 2:1. It really beings the goods. Like the entire show, it is forgotten to what I think is bias against the small market of Iowa. I’ll definitely be voting Pancakes next round out of spite.

  • Urheadypal - 1 year ago

Right next to each other and both high in my rankings… honestly just depends on the day and the mood but I had the EoA higher so that’s where my vote goes. Just a bit more unique. Both killer.

  • Seancat - 1 year ago

Both are memorable jams that get stuck in my head. The EoA dance groove is so tight, I could sit in that jam all day. Hungersite's style is slightly more in my wheelhouse. Close!

Definitely a great Hungersite but feel like this EoA had something special. TAKE IT RICH

  • Seekers_pt_Deuce - 1 year ago

Shocked EoA isn’t dominating this. The Hungersite is great/fine, but the EoA is a true ripper.

  • Shannon - 1 year ago

Tough call! This Hungersite is so well played, but there was something so groundbreaking about that EoA, and it kicked off such a surprisingly special show in IA. I was at Goosemas and loved Hungersite, but going with the underdog for the special version it is.

  • SeanLyng - 1 year ago

Should have been the Cap EorA (which also would have lost).

    Hungersite is stellar here.

  • TTKammer - 1 year ago

Bummed to see this E or A getting pummeled so early. I was at Goosemas, and think this E or A beats it hands down (I didn't even have this Hungersite in my bracket). Tis the season.

  • Jon - 1 year ago

My mom voted for Hungersite. Enough said.

  • Cptn_Incredible - 1 year ago

Is this Hungersite better than Hungersalt? I can neither confirm nor deny.

But I can confirm I didn't have any versions of EoA in my bracket. Including this one. Which is the best version of the song Goose played in 2024.

Listen to the Went Gin and then listen to this Hungersite. You’ll be amazed at the similarities. Not calling it a copycat jam or even close to the level of the Went Gin but they share a similar vibe. Pretty neat.

  • BDR - 1 year ago

This hungersite easily beats this earthling. Still two great jams

  • Bailey - 1 year ago

While I love this particular Eora? It can’t beat this Hungersite. ????

  • Josh - 1 year ago

Full on attendance bias. I was super drunk at Goosemas and revisiting this Hungersite is pure joy

  • Mark G - 1 year ago

E or A all the way. Love this version 'cause i love funky Goose

  • Sully - 1 year ago

This E or A fucking RIPPPPSSSSSS…talk about a fucking dance party. Picking the upset here, I think this earthling could make a run

  • Jon Benoit - 1 year ago

This Earthling should be raked much higher. I attended Goosemas, so initially I had a bias towards the 12/13 Hungersite and it is one of the best Hungersite’s of the year. But every time I listen to this Earthling, I appreciate it more. So attendance bias be damned, my vote is for the 12/13 E or A?

  • @6R0M7 - 1 year ago

Wow, Kennett! Nice breakdown. I have a very different take on the EoA, but totally appreciate your thoughtful write-up.

  • Kennett Marshall - 1 year ago

Please listen to this EoA? carefully and with an open mind!! I pray that this is the first upset of bracket!
In my mind the seeding should be reversed or at least the EoA should be much more highly seeded than 11.

Doesn't anyone like funk jams? Doesn't anyone like to dance anymore?? The Hungersite is very tight and interesting. It's got a lot to offer: bliss, more bliss, weird and annoying Peter drone loops, multiple peaks and then nicely back to bliss.

But the EoA is arguably the best ever. I like it more than Chrysalis '23 or Denver'21. It is truly a unique one. Most impressive is the incredible slow and patient build up throughout the song. From minute 6 to minute 24 it does nothing but build and build and add layer after layer and pace. Very few jams do that, especially with so much patience. The Philly Echo did that last year and look where that got it. The very slow section from mins 6-11 can get a bit sleepy but I like the Trevor jam and I love Peter's groove. When Rick joins in earnest from mins 11-15 the blues-funk groove gets just nasty and I dare you to try to stand still. From minute 15-24 it is just a blues, funk, rocknroll spectacle! The pace and in the last few minutes is furious and unrelenting. I'm at a loss as to why this jam and this entire show doesn't get more love and attention. I certainly wasn't in Iowa on a mid-tour Sunday night...but I sure wish I had been.

This show is the Sylvee, WI of 2024 and this jam is the Wysteria! And check out the 36min Empress (sandwiching a Green River) to open 2nd set. That masterpiece was snubbed entirely:(

  • BModest - 1 year ago

I enjoy the EoA but this Hungersite moves on here.

  • Basty - 1 year ago

This hungersite marches through to the next round easily.
Sorry to this fun groove from EoA, but it was never even a contest

  • Norm - 1 year ago

Very sad for this exceptional Earthling groove.

    But this Hungersite....

  • @6R0M7 - 1 year ago

    As I posted on Bsky:

Hungersite unflinchingly. Most Hungersites are too hosey or too reliant on cliched peaks to interest me. Cast differently, this one immediately drops into open negative space with patient dynamics nurtured into an emphatic yet understated close.

    Versus a completely unremarkable EoA.

  • Colin L - 1 year ago

Man, great match up! I think everyone’s obvious winner will be this insanely great hingersite, but man, EoA was a banger for me this year and this one is really great. The little slides Rick is doing later in that super dank funk riff jam are tasty little morsels. Yum

  • Chris N - 1 year ago

Every time I listen to this Hungersite, I nudge it up in my rankings a bit. Such a great organic build - there is a kinetic undercurrent running through the whole thing and it delivers the goods when it gets there (and keeps getting more there).

This EOA doesn’t measure up in this matchup but the end may be best stretch of goose this year to run through a series of brick walls to.

  • Michael V - 1 year ago

This EorA doesn’t do much for me. I think Swanzey and Remlinger are better versions. But this Hungersite is really special and should move on easy

  • Andrew Duddy - 1 year ago

    Smoking hungersite.

  • David Burton - 1 year ago

This is the toughest first round match up for me. I love the 9/15 EoA, but Bingo Hungersite gets slight edge for me. Attendance bias won out.
