Digital sauce lovers, don't sleep on this Hungersite! It's quite enjoyable
But yeah, Goosemas 14+ min supremacy

Nothing analytical here, but here is one reason this Hungersite was so awesome for me. It was my and my 13-yr-old's first Goose show, and we bumped into Peter right outside the venue a few hours before doors opened. After getting an "us-ie", I told Peter that Goose is my son's favorite band, and Peter asked what he liked, to which my son responded, "Hungersite." So, a few hours later when we heard those opening notes, it felt pretty great for both of us, and then for it to last 24 minutes . . . Awesome.

I Luvvv this KC Hungersite. It is the first one that's really excited me since 2023. Just love the sizzling pace all the way through. The lyrics section is super tight with great fills throughout. Rick has a great J. Garcia tone going on from mins 7-9 and then nice interplay with Peter for the next few minutes. Then it thunders to various peaks until min 15 when a nasty clav funk jam takes over. The last 4 mins are more jazzy and dark before if fires to a blistering finish. Flamingos jam is very wild and unique and must have been great fun live--but doesn't do it for me otherwise.

Flamingos/14 is gonna take this, but I question if it should even be in the bracket and it wouldn’t be outside of the setting and associated gag which was incredible, hilarious, and also slightly frightening.
Anyway, everyone should check out the KC Hungersite!

This KC Hungersite is fast, energetic, and has several themes that build extremely nicely together. BDF14 is creative and unique in the moment, but nowhere near the caliber of this KCHS.

The whole Flamingo race and the accompanying jam was fun in the moment, but I feel it was just that... fun in Charleston at the time. This Hungersite however, absolutely rips, and should be the one moving on. 'Tis the season, I suppose.
This D&B&F is a great example of a jam that sounded excellent in the moment (and was) but lacked the re-listenability of the true JOTY contenders. It's a nice foray outside of their usual menu of stylistic options, but ultimately it's a bit gimmicky and not especially memorable. It was super fun though
This Hungersite, however, is a fingerbang(tm vickers) freight train of pure adrenaline. I realize many are not, but I'm sucker for a fiery type 1 Hungersite; I think it fits the song well, the band needs mid-length jam options and I think they play it well this way. But this one goes beyond simply shreddy type 1, transitioning into a super upbeat funky segment followed by a tasty dose of digital sauce and perhaps my favorite tease of all time with Rick dropping Mad World out of thin air.
I realize there is a ton of affection (and attendance bias) for the Goosemas shenanigans, but give this Hungersite a listen before you decide.

I feel bad for this Hunger as it’s very good and going up against a contender that benefits from a huge attendance bias. Having said that though I love the jam that develops in this +14 with the fellas being forced to come up with some cool ideas from scratch without a ripcord safety option. This is what jamming means to me at its purest form. It advances.

As I posted on Bsky:
Voting for the very under-ranked Hungersite vs. an over-ranked DBF14.
I rarely go to bat for Hungersite, but will for this one. Energetic multi-section, multi-peak build w/delightful digital sauce closing.
Fun on inflatables, if you’ve got 16 mins to spare before hearing anything but generic ham.

It's really cool they were up on flamingos and riding through the crowd and whatnot, but does that make it a better jam? The last 8-10mins of the 14min jam are cool, the rest of it? I dunno guys, i feel like there's some attendance bias in the voting/ranking here. I mean sure, did we all have a big smile on our faces watching them float thru the crowd? of course we did, but does that make it JOTY-worthy?
Anyway, Hungersite is a banger, i had it 30th overall and have no regrets voting for it. Borne(6/4) heading to the sweet 16 anyway so i'm not going to be upset with whoever wins this one.

I think the love for the Goosemas DBF/14MJ is wonderful and misplaced. Hungersite deserves the win here
