What an upset! What time do polls close? When I checked this morning at 8:30am pst, EMG was up by 2 votes. When I checked again at 10am, Thatch had pulled ahead and won by 2 votes. So close! So bummed for that brilliant and inspired EMG.

Coin flip for me, executed by my attendance bias for that Thatch. Shame either of these has to go, but that’s a solid Goose first world problem with so many amazing jams in ‘24.

EMG all the way. The sweet 16 would be incomplete without it. That's not a knock on this Thatch, which is great. It's my pick for Thatch of the year, and I have it at no. 44 overall. The first jam in particular is such a unique-sounding groove. But I have this EMG at no. 10 overall. It's one of Goose's finest bliss jams and one of Rick's most inspiring riffs. It was the GOAT EMG until Milwaukee a few weeks ago. It should move on.

Love this Thatch! Energetic throughout, funky, quirky, fun, rowdy! I keep coming back to it again and again. The EMG is "nice." Nuff said!

How is this Thatch even in the bracket?
Are we rewarding type 1 jams that go nowhere?

Thatch is a Super Bowl win waiting to happen!

I totally thought I was going to vote for that awesome Thatch, and then I heard this EMG. Holy wow! How did I miss this one? Sleeper jam of the year and right up there with the best of them! I just voted for EMG and it’s tied now. Can’t wait to see what happens!

I know people really love this Thatch and I’m super happy for you all that do. I did not have it ranked; it was definitely the most out of consensus take on my list. I do really enjoy the post vocal/mid jam groove but don’t really feel it does much from there. To me, it’s a bit one dimensional and kind of gets stuck on its way to wherever it was going to go. It’s cool and I’d love to hear it at a show for sure, but nothing in this jam makes me feel like it’s JOTY-level compelling. But again, I’m very much in the minority here.
Love this EMG. It takes a while to get its footing, but Rick finds a theme and Trevor completely locks in behind him with Peter providing insanely colorful textures. One of the better bliss jams of the year.
Fairly easy EMG choice for me here

Thatch by a wide wide margin here. Solid EMG, but this Thatch is really really nice.

I had EMG and Thatch at 15 and 17, respectively on my playlist — which perfectly matches the crowd seeding. And which is also a virtual toss-up.
I just A-B'd them twice, and I'm going Thatch by a nose. What a rich and dynamic jam! One of these has to advance, but there's no losers in this match.

I don't know if I ever (re)listened to this SCAMP show since being there. I just don't think this EMG jam is anything special. Sounds like typical jamband improvisation to me. Fun, but nothing great.
This Thatch is a great example of THE WHOLE BAND getting locked in together for a great groove.

This EMG is amazing. Starting from around the 12:00 mark on nugs to the end is top tier goose blissies. The start of this reminds me a little of the spac hungersite bliss jam, but this segment in EMG goes a different direction and is a much fuller jam with an outstanding peak. This thatch is fun to listen to but maybe a little too repetitive and does not compare to this EMG. Both will lose to madhuvan next round but everything must go is the answer for this matchup!

Ironic given my username, but I really think this EMG is the most overrated jam in the bracket. It’s good, no shade but Thatch FTW

This EMG is one of the most gorgeous triumphant peaks this band has ever played in front of a live audience. I had it at #13 overall in my rankings and this Thatch at #20.
That said, the crowd seeded these a bit closer and they really ARE closer in quality even than they would appear in my rankings. This one *should* be a close match and I honestly wouldn't be mad whichever of the two progresses. They're both nearly equally worthy imo.

Not only is Thatch not the better song, but the jams aren't even close. This one note Thatch jam didn't even make my top 64. Oooff. This shouldn't be close.

But I'm going with Thatch

EMG was my #11 this year. I had thatch ranked in the 40s... it's a great track but EMG i kept going back to. Good luck to both!

This Thatch is super good and worthy of advancing here.
