I voted yes, but I propose a twist. Rather than listing five accomplishments, why not list five improvement ideas for the individual’s department, workspace issues, government wide improvement or streamlining, etc. I know from personal experience with being on the receiving end of micromanaging that it is inefficient.

Workers upset about having to account for their time? Now why might that be? Very interesting.
I would imagine that the specifics of "who" or "what company" wouldn't need to be supplied, but the outcome of the work would be nice. A lot of general terminology could be used.
Unfortunately, there's no way to know if workers would be truthful about the information anyway.

I’m sure they don’t have to go into great detail. If someone (Musk) has been asked to downsize, he needs to know exactly what each person is responsible for. The employees won’t have to do that forever, I’m sure. Those who balk will be those who don’t want this administration to succeed, and will soon not have a job to write about.

If workers are actually getting work done and performing, this shouldn’t take very long. Make a checklist when you finish or start a project. That’s all they are asking for.

My employer requires a daily worksheet of what I did that day. I don't know how federal employees expect the rest of us in the private sector to feel bad for them. Many of us have been doing this for a long time and don't complain because we want to keep our jobs.

They should report to their supervisors weekly. That should be sufficient. Why should report to Elon Musk what business is their job really.

I worked in the private sector for over 50 years at multiple job and never had to report weekly on what I accomplished
Workers not on some probationary status should not need micro managing. The manager should know his or her employees output. If you have employees doing nothing, you have a manager problem.

When I worked for the Feds, we had a staff meeting every week to review what we accomplished the previous week and bring up any problems or concerns. Not a big deal. A good way to find out who the workers were.

I once worked for a service company that unfortunately thought the techs were wasting time on their service calls. They started requiring detailed reports from every service call, which became so time consuming that the number of daily service calls dropped. The service techs were actually having to spend more time filling out reports than it took to do a service all. The boss wanted to know everything that was discussed with the client. It was crazy. Micro-managing is not the way to go.
Every employee will need to have reports that are geared towards their department/agency/position. I won't even attempt to speculate what each person's job consists of. I only know what my positions in the private sector consisted of. It was always easy to track what I did. I picture an assistant to an upper-level manager writing things like got coffee, picked-up dry cleaning, made 25 phone calls to set make lunch/golf meeting with whomever, then made reservations for lunch and tee time.
Reports are good, as long as they don't go crazy about it.

Another thought…the fact that people are required to explain what they’ve done on their job each week, and complaining about it…describes how insufficient and entitled we have raised our children. Let’s get back to being self-reliant and self-sufficient working to serve our fellow citizens wherever we are, at the best we can be.

I’m 78 years old. I don’t expect things to revert back to the 50’s and 60’s when I worked for others, but the only way employers kept track of employees hours was with time clocks. Not every employer had them, but large corporations that hired people in hourly jobs, this was the norm. Other jobs, service type, were done by merit, and the employees production. The Federal Government is huge, actually way too big and bloated. Anyone who has dealt with any of the Agencies knows that employees you first come in contact with are low level, and lack skills whether verbal or just knowledge about what they are doing, the purpose or why. Our governments are loaded with these types…only there for a paycheck. Hence, the mediocrity of America. People need to follow their aptitudes and what enthuse them. Then you need fewer employees, they’re more productive and happier.

Welcome to the US workforce were weekly reports are a must!!! There should not be a difference between the federal employees and private workforce. Everyone should be giving reports on their accomplishments or how the projects advance, is not hard and a good way to track the daily/weekly tasks.

Private businesses do this on a regular basis so why shouldn't the government workers be held accountable for their work. Also, private businesses do mass layoffs also to get rid of the riff raff. Then after a period of time will start a rehire phase. I took part in a program that gave one week of pay for every year worked. I was close to retirement and took advantage of the layoff and put my affairs in order before retirement. I don't see anything that Trump or Musk is doing, that the private sector has not all ready done before.

Yes, for the first 6 months when they come back
to office full time. After the 6 months, then get
amother one 6 months later. It should be done every 6 months from now on. The federal employees took advanrage of the other Americans who paid their taxes , who help paid their benefits and salaries!

I know it seems far fetched! I was in the military for 33 years and the last 10 I was in the Guard - I worked for a boss that was brilliant and he would have me give him a synopsis of what my week would look like -it kept me on track and allowed me to stretch myself! I saw others doing wedding invitations or cutting box tops for
their kids; and there was a lack of accountability! Unfortunately many have taken advantage of the lack of accountability they want to be treated like adults but don’t want to work…..the supervisors don’t want to rock the boat or the supervisors are lazy and don’t care they are about to retire and just biding their time! It’s not their money so why would they care!! I don’t know what the solution is but there is an awful lot of waste etc!
Since President Trump has been in office - they don’t get the 3 hours of paid leave prior to a federal holiday yup that’s what the other guy would authorize! Just do the math- how many FAA employees in America and they ALL got an extra 3 hrs off the Friday before the Federal holiday on Monday! WASTEFUL spending!

I had to an end of day report everyday. I did my job so it wasn’t a problem for me. Why is it such a problem for government “workers”?
